If Frey hasn’t already left with the 8 DH types they’ve added. I’m not sure he will

Portal is also closed for anyone on our team. At this point he'll go through fall practice like everyone else on the team, next portal window is like in December?

He's also a redshirt junior. So his age is already a factor against him from a pro standpoint. From an overall quality of college baseball standpoint, this is a good thing. Keeping older, fringe prospect guys in college makes the game better. There needs to be a lot more honest conversations about where guys stand with pro baseball and how pro baseball actually values them. There are only a handful of orgs that try to develop every guy in the minors. The rest just look at everyone as filler. If you don't have a tool that will get you a decent signing bonus, extend your baseball career by adding years in college. The opportunity when you go pro will be the exact same, but you may have developed a little more before getting there, increasing your odds of sticking.

listening to Jay Johnson in interviews this is one thing he kind of harp on with players. He is big on saying if your not drafted in the first 3 rounds your odds of making it are extremely low and the odds between the first and 2nd round are big too

Eddie Smith is looking like the next coach at Washington.

I'm glad we got Dickinson locked in before that shook out. Obviously LSU is a better program than Washington, but an opportunity to play at home for the coach that recruited and developed you is pretty big. Especially since they're losing both their middle infielders.

so is the ink dry on the Dickinson commitment or should we worry about the possibility of him having a change of heart? I'm pretty excited to have him on the team.

I think it would have been more difficult of a pull had the Washington stuff shook out sooner, but I don't think it will affect anything now.

Cade Fisher wasn’t on campus (like we confirmed) but he will be eventually according to the Florida mods

I got no info on this one. I wouldn’t expect us to be serious contenders for him, but that’s just my opinion

I said it last night, but Dickinson is a perfect fit. He can play 2B, SS, and 3B. Braswell (if he returns) and Milam are also flexible, and you probably have some juice getting through the draft at all of those spots. Turning into a nice little infield. And, Dickinson gives you a really nice bat, no matter where you hit him.

If he plays like he did in JUCO...he'll be very hard to keep off the field.

I'm excited about Reeves.

I don't know what to think of Reaves and his role on this team. If Braswell comes back I really just don't see an easy way for him to get on the field. He had great numbers at Blinn but in his summer league he is 16-66 at the plate and only 1 extra base hit. It is summer ball so won't put too much into it but we will see.

Seeing those older jerseys really makes me hope Nike fixes things for next year. Quality took a huge step back this past year

After looking at his photos, looks like Dickinson is a perfect replacement for Tanks’ jewelry at 3B.
