Ready for baseball to whip back around already lol. We should be gearing up for another big run of dominance.

Things may/will change by the time the draft gets here, but I think the realistic goal with the above is to land 3/4 of 9. Anything more than that is a bonus.

Looking through the transfer portal rankings on BA, the SEC (not including OU and Texas) had 56 of the top 100 transfers. LSU had 5 of their 6 ranked in the top 100. Braswell was the only one not ranked.
Arkansas, A&M, and Ole Miss led the SEC (and the country) with 6 top 100 transfers each. LSU led the league with the highest average ranking within the top 100.

I went through my roster for the 2025 season and highlighted all the guys who are even on the draft radar. If all of them get drafted (they won't) it would leave us with 32/40 for 2025. That's just to say there is still room in the 2024 class for HS, JUCO, and portal guys.
We seem to be really in the hunt for JUCO guys right now. I'll try to put together a list of names to watch out for later today.

I think the high goal will be 5/9 if you asked Jay, likely landing point 4/9 if things more go "as planned" and Jay would probably disappointed bringing in 3 or less.

I feel like the last two classes have a bunch of DES's. Especially this last one.
Posted on 8/22/23 at 9:40 am to Lester Earl
Guidry, Jones, Kling, Herring
Roellig, Anderson, Seo (under the old rules Derrick Mitchell and Steven Milam would likely have been DES as well).
I don't have enough age info on Dallas Dale and Griffin Cooley because they weren't listed in the MLB draft tracker this year.

Wasn't near as many and this season had a loaded college pool of players that dropped some of the high school kids. This coming draft, as of now, does not have the college talent. I think you see more high school players taken earlier this coming draft.
You never know for sure. Have the Crews/Kling type situations and then the Cam Johnson situations. Will be fun to follow for sure but I just don't think I will get my hopes up on more than 3/4 of those top guys.

What’s up with Schmidt out of Catholic BR ? #1 player in the state and still uncommitted.

He's been uncomitted for less than a month I think.
He was previously committed to Mississippi State.

Mainieri has been "hired on" as an advisor to the head coach at BRCC. I think it's similar to the role John Brady has over there for basketball. Largely ceremonial, probably not much pay or responsibility. But offers a direct line for the coaches looking to build those programs up.
I want BRCC to be viable baseball option for guys but they've lagged the other JUCOs in the state for a while. LSU has never signed a player from there. I think having a younger head coach there that's hungry to build it up will help, but I imagine he's run into some pretty tough hurdles. Hopefully having Mainieri involved in some capacity can help with fundraising and give a little political capital to get things done.
