I would be doing a deep dive into the numbers if i’m the Os.
If he’s just facing better pitchers because he catches the top 3 in the order this matchups happen then maybe you write it off as him smoking back end of the rotations pitchers. but a .150 difference is a lot

I just went through and drew out the positions and where the roster stands currently.
I don't recommend it.

Dickinson is still playing for team USA right now. I am hoping that is the holdup for him.

who did you take out assuming they get drafted?
Posted on 7/3/24 at 12:26 pm to ProjectP2294
I did that this morning and decided not to make a comment about it and hope that some portal action and a lot of good draft things happen for the Tigers.

Looking at the portal options for SS
1. Kilen, Lousville
Rumored to bee Tenn bound
2. Clayton, Washington
New to portal, we are in on him as is A&M
3. Schrier, UCLA
Jay is actually following but t his appears to be an old follow. So I suppose there's a chance here. But his stats are not great
.242/.320/.354/.674, 5HR, 19BB, 43K, 6SB
4. Diaz, Indiana State
No connection to us that I can tell. he is draft eligible but his overall stats look good so suprised we aren't openly connected.
.360/.437/.632/1.069, 18HR, 31BB, 35K, 7SB
Looking at the portal options for 3B
1. Fischer, Ole Miss
Rumored to be Tenn bound
3. Norton, Jacksonville State
No connection to us that I can tell, draft eligible
.327/.419/.573, 13HR
5. Henseler, Penn
Committed to A&M early, but LSU is in the mix and some on A&M boards have low confidence he is sticking with them
6. Ogden, UNC Greensboro
No connection that I can tell. (he committed to Miami, 64 analytics doesn't have him updated)
.313/.385/.482, 8HR
9. Ciulla-Hall, Stonehill
New to portal as of yesterday, we are on him
* Arquette, listed as #1 2B available
* Dickinson, listed as #2 2B available
Both of these could be being recruited at either 3B or SS

I’ve heard from 1 on field coach and 1 off field staffer that they don’t expect Braswell back. Obviously things could change, but they don’t feel good
If that's the case, then we didn't make keeping him a priority
There's no doubt NIL could pay him what he's gonna get in the draft
I guess there is a small chance he just wants to get his likely short minor league journey started

The 4 players I listed on the left side of the infield are freshman and at least one of them is a draft sweat.

Everyone seems to think he is unlikely due to leverage, i personally think its more 50/50 because i dont think he will command alot of money this year in the draft. But i know thats not a common thought on this board. I have no inside info
I think with Braswell it just depends on money and if he plans to play professional baseball. I remember hearing that Kramer got offered more money as a 32nd round pick after his junior year, than he got as a 4th round pick after his senior year. Basically, if you come back for your senior year, you basically have to accept the fact that you are giving away money. I don't know how much Braswell can improve his MLB stock. It's not like he is going to suddenly develop a lot more power, a stronger arm, more range, etc.

Is the door closed on Kucherak?

I hope not. Don't know what more the coaches could have done to keep him here honestly.

This place is going to erupt when we finally get a Tiger emoji.

i dont know how the media is picking LSU to be an Omaha team lol

Yea, It's not ideal for sure. Need to get at least 2 of the group of Kilen/Dickinson/Clayton/Arquette/Henseler
Posted on 7/3/24 at 12:44 pm to BayTiger13
Jay is now following Dickinson on IG and he usually only follows players on the team. Hope this means good news

And you’re ignoring the fact that he’s trained and practiced at catcher to some effect both years he’s been here.
I think you are missing a big part here too. Jones was the 4th catcher behind Milazzo, Neal, and Travinski, despite being much better offensively than all of them. That probably means his defense was the worst of the bunch, and none of the 3 guys ahead of him were particularly great this past season defensively.

I don't necessarily believe that. Kramer got offered $250k as a 32nd round draft pick after his junior year. I could be wrong, but I don't think LSU is offering any baseball player $250k.

Same. We have to replace roughly 90% of our innings from last year and we're doing it with a lot of lottery tickets.
And we don't have a center piece to the line up currently.

I'm not saying he was definitely a better defensive catcher than any or all of those guys, but you can't really draw the conclusion that he was worse.
Travinski has waffle irons for hands, which didn't work behind the plate and didn't work in his limited time at 1B.
Milazzo was both the best defensive catcher and also had the least positional versatility.
Jones was the best option at 1B and it allowed them to write a line up spot in ink. I don't think that's necessarily an indictment of his ability to catch.

it’s going to be interesting
1B Hernandez or Yasmin
2B Milan
SS ????
3B ????
COF Larson
CF Stanford
COF Brown
C Priester?
In play at SS is Braswell, Henseler, Dickinson, Ryan (FR)
worst case is it Milan at SS and Pearson at 2B in a draft apocalypse scenario?
3B Nonidea Fountain if he makes it to campus?
it sucks going in with question marks but in an ideal situation we do get 1-2 position players from this incoming class.

Feels like a brand pick to me. I mean hell, D1 had 10 people make their Omaha predictions and LSU was the only unanimous pick. We were also 1 of 2 unanimous picks for 2024 (Florida being the other). That's pretty crazy considering how little was returned from 2023 and again in 2024.
