We have a tradition of great Cade’s at LSU; therefore, I hope so. Damn the stats.

He's 64analytics #1 player in the portal, but a lot of that to do with his high MLB stock and high high school rating. HE obivously struggled a lot last season. Solid freshman year (3.10 ERA) even if he got hit around a bit then, simply limited walks to limit damage back then.

Kind of has a Thatcher Hurd vibe potentially to me, but its one of those "if he works out" deals it's a HUGE boost to the staff.

Anyone have any rumblings of where Cade Fischer ends up? I’m sure Jay and Yeskie are all over the recent pitcher entries in the portal. Lots of innings to sell to them next year

Now that the portal is closed, from the official 40 man roster from this year we have 9 players with eligibility left 100% returning:

Pitchers
Chase Shores
Jaden Noot
DJ Primeaux
Kade Anderson

Fielders
Ethan Frey
Jake Brown
Ashton Larson
Steven Milam
Mic Paul

Likely to return:
Gavin Guidry
Josh Pearson
Kade Woods

50/50 to return:
Michael Braswell
Fidel Ulloa

Unlikely to return:
Griffin Herring
Jared Jones

Definitely Going in Draft
Tommy White
Gage Jump
Luke Holman

Someone please correct me if this is wrong. If you go by my dumb calculations, we’ll have 13 returning players. Luckily, Guidry and Pearson, given their National Championship experience, seem like they can take more leadership roles to keep Jay’s foundation/culture going. But man, this new era does suck.

Id say herring is at least 50/50 if not greater. Id put ulloa in the unlikely category

You’re probably right. Braswell in 50/50 or more unlikely? I’d really love for him to be back.

Everyone seems to think he is unlikely due to leverage, i personally think its more 50/50 because i dont think he will command alot of money this year in the draft. But i know thats not a common thought on this board. I have no inside info

He's made one start so far in the MLB draft league. 4 IP, 7 Ks.

I'd love for him to be back, but I think he's going to get a good offer.

ETA: Ulloa has made 2 starts. 9 IP, 11 Ks. 2 H, 3 BB . 0 ER.

I'm also skeptical of what he would command. He doesn't hit enough to profile at 2B and doesn't field well enough to profile at SS. At the pro level.

I'd be really happy to have him back and starting at SS for us though. I think he plays a good enough SS for college and he made great strides with the bat.

I think there's a very good chance Braswell comes back. It sounds like he's considered more of a 2B in the pro ranks so I can't see many teams wanting to pay up for a light-hitting 2B. Depends on what kinda NIL he's getting I guess.

I also think both Herring and Bear could be back. IMO Herring has the most to gain from returning and proving he can be a starter.

I don't know what to think on Herring.

I thought we had a decent chance to get Bear back until his BP round at the combine sounded like the Dresden bombardment.

I'd put Herring and Jones in the 50/50 and Ulloa in the unlikely.

Mostly just due to age and leverage. I am not like most that assume Jones to be gone just yet. To me him and Herring will both be 50/50 and would not go for just any amount of money. I still don't see Jones as a top 3 round money guy because of his tools. He has 1 tool at the MLB level, but it is a very loud one. I still think he swings and misses too much. Will be interesting to see how it goes. I don't necessarily think he can better his stock, but I don't think his stock would get any worse next season either. So I guess it will depend if the money is worth leaving LSU to go develop in the minors or continue to develop at LSU and get pretty much the same money next year and be 1 year more developed while living the good college life.

It also sounded like that for his BP coming out of high school at the combine. Him having BP type power is no secret, so I don't really think that really changed teams opinions of him. They already knew he can do that in BP.

Jared Jones could definitely improve his draft stock by proving he could play decent defense behind the plate. Not sure if Jay is selling that to him though. Herring could also prove his new changeup plays in the SEC and he can start games. It’ll just be up to what their numbers are and if they’re willing to stick to them

I’ve heard from 1 on field coach and 1 off field staffer that they don’t expect Braswell back. Obviously things could change, but they don’t feel good
