not my resources, i don't really care. I hope they cant make him useable and not go the direction of guys like Thatcher Hurd or Christian Little who they could never really improve

From memory we carried 21 pitchers, 19 if you don’t count Shores and Noot. We used 14 regularly.

We can afford to have a couple of projects in the pen who have the potential to be game changers if they get right. Last year we had a few too many.

I like it. LFG

I don’t hate it, I don’t love it. As long as we are ok with what we have next year (excluding him) and our approach is to take the talent and hope he finds it then I’m ok with it.

Oh wait I heard speculation about that that Nicholls guy.

I don’t think Sheerin will be a rotation guy. There is still a chance Hayden doesn’t make it.

I think we see more piggy backing like we had with Herring this year.

A couple starters that can get you 6 consistently but are a threat to go 8. A handful of guys that can get you 3-5. And a few guys that can get you 1 multiple times.

That’s the recipe.

13-2 with 211 K’s in 146 innings his first two years.

I'm really hoping that between this group:

1. Herring
2. Noot
3. Shores
4. Anderson
5. Hayden
6. Cowan
7. Sheerin
8. Mayers

we're able to finally have a solid Fri-Sat-Sun. I know multiple guys on that list may not be on the roster in a month, but the potential is there.

Hurd I can agree with about the inconsistency but Little was very solid this year with that new cutter pitch out of the pen compared to the previous season.

I agree. I think Sheerin will be given the opportunity compete for a starting role but I think he’ll primarily be in the Herring role out of the pen next year, moving into the rotation in 2026.

Think about a pitchbility righty that sub 6 feet carving you up for 6 inning and then facing 6’5” 250 power slider guy for the last three innings.

On a Sunday.

That’s Cowan and Sheerin.

If it is indeed Mayers, he is currently 14th in the 64 analytics portal ranks.

LSU is 6th behind

1. Georgia
2. Kentucky
3. Duke
4. Miami
5. Georgia Tech

I would assume they’d probably jump into the top 3 (not that it really matters but it’s fun to do this)

ETA: he’d also be their highest rated transfer (per that site) with Hayden at 16 and Sheerin at 27

He had a 6.37 ERA. I get that he looked good in spurts, but he was still bad.

Yeah, I don't get it. Little was good for like a month and still had a 6 ERA. And we saw with Hurd last year that a good month of short stints doesn't mean you've turned the corner.

Christian Little was at LSU for 2 seasons and was useable for about 3 weeks.

And wasn't nearly as much of a project as a kid like Mayers. He has given up nearly a walk every inning pitched over 2 years. It is kind of jaw dropping, actually.
