Also forgot about Kentucky pitcher Travis Smith. He is ranked #9 and could fall in the category described above, but sounds like the guy being referenced by Tigah14 may have been in the portal for a little while and Smith is new.

I’ll take both Gavin K’s please. I’d prefer Braswell back though.

His walks went from

6.9 per 9ip

to

9.7 per 9ip

Who needs Priest when we can have Priester?

Clearly, our guy is more of his last name.

For what it is worth. I was looking at draft projections for 2025 and Mayers was like 3rd round.

Of course doesn't mean he can be fixed in one year.

Think about some of the guys with great stuff that lsu couldn’t fix & get consistent time on the field

Hurd
Little
Moffett
Cam Johnson

To name a few.

Mayers’ need to be fixed is way beyond the point these other guys reached. It’s hard to pitch @ lsu & get the opportunities needed to get your issues corrected

I think Jordan has been on him a while. Tutko just got on him, so we may be escalating our interest.

He’s got big stuff, even if the numbers don’t necessarily reflect it. 9 starts as a freshman for a D2 school in Florida is a lot. All those teams are old. They take a lot of juco guys and have a lot of Covid year guys still. So he would have been facing a lot of old lineups.

ETA: he was at Miami for the fall last year before going to Nova.

Ehhh I wouldn't go that far. Little had some good stretches here and there but he still had over a 6 ERA and a WHIP over 1.7.

Sure he struggled to start the year. But was great to end up until he got hurt. He was a disaster up until the last month or more, meaning they turned him around.

Little at the end of his 4th year

Chritian Little BB/9ip for his career was 5.2

Jacob Mayers makes him look like Greg Maddux
