:/
just went and watched lol.
Struck out the first batter on a 1-2 breaking ball. Next batter grounds one through the 6 hole for a base hit. Next batter hits a ground ball to the short stop, likely only would've gotten one out of it, but certainly a double play possiblity. SHort stop boots it and it appears they gave that a hit. Then he walked 2 guys, one of his balls coming on a pitch clock violation, then struck the next batter out.
Bases loaded 2 outs, 2-2 count, gave up a bloop single to right that the right fielder misplayed allowing the runner from second to score, then the right fielder made a shitty throw to second which allowed the runner from first to come in.
I know it sounds like I'm being biased here (I am) but this inning should've resulted in 1 earned run, at the most. He really only had one bad at bat. I'll throw in GIFs of the plays in question and you can be the judge.
Second "hit" he allowed.
"3 RBI double" he allowed
Nice strikeout on a breaking ball
ETA: well aware I'm being biased here. I just see so much potential and it's a shame those plays (and his 2 walks
) resulted in that line. I don't know how you give the first GIF a hit and I don't know how you don't rule that the third runner scored due to an error on the right fielder. In the past, they've changed the rulings one day after I complain about them in this thread, so maybe they'll do it here as well

I know. I'm bummed.
But, we all know development isn't linear. It happens in fits and starts. How his next outing goes will tell us more about him than how this one went.

That's why I like to read the transcripts and watch when I can. Line scores are rarely the whole story. And even with a bad one, there can be reasons for optimism.

Another pitcher I’m keeping an eye on is Kade Woods up in the Cape. 5.87 ERA which isn’t great, but he has put together back to back outings of no run ball. I think the biggest thing is only 2 BB in 7.2 IP so far. His biggest issue last year was command. If he continues to improve on this I think he will be a major factor in the pen next year. I don’t know if there’s a way to go back and watch his outings to get a better idea but I’ll continue to stat watch for the time being.

When I went thru and watched i basically skipped around to just watch each pitch and the result. Went back to see if they mentioned any velo or anything.
He was sitting 94 and ran it up to 99 for his second strike out of the inning.

I think all of the Cape games are on youtube. You just need to look at the home team's channel. You may have to hunt around a little bit, but I think it's there.

I have a lot of optimism for this kid after seeing that breaking ball holy crap. If he can start landing that and the heater, he absolutely will get a chance in the pen this year.

The slider in the gif above is nasty. More command of that arm run fastball with that put away slider is absolute closer material.

The Northwoods league has by far the best video coverage. Multiple camera angles and a score bug at the bottom. That's probably due to their ESPN+ deal, but even the games just on the Northwoods website (which are free) are great for the most part.
I've only tried to watch a few of games from the cape, and multiple times they've only had one camera, placed behind home plate at an angle. A couple of times I've seen them use the traditional centerfield broadcast angle, but I have't watched every teams' broadcast to be fair.

We need someone to go undercover on Holman's visit. Need some juicy tidbits.

Does anyone know where you can watch TCL games? More specifically Rougarou games? Primeaux has had some impressive outings (3.2 IP, 1 ER, 8 K, 1 BB) and I'd like to go watch those if i can.
Project, if you want me to move this conversation over to the offseason thread on the rant I can. There are just far too many idiots in there for me to actually engage with it

Yeah, the Northwoods League, in the stadium and on the internet, is run much more like a minor league. They're looking for a good fan experience and looking to increase attendance that way.
The Cape Cod League is more bare bones because it's pretty much just a way for scouts to see the best players in the country all in the same place. They aren't concerned with the fan experience, especially online. And the high school fields they play at are going to be limited in what they're able to do production wise.
They both serve a necessary function, but the Northwoods League is way better for fans.

I enjoy the fan experience of going to sit in a lawn chair to watch baseball. I also grew up drinking hose water.

Good call. Found it on Chatham’s YouTube channel. Angle isn’t great but better than nothing. Woods came on in the 8th with a runner on 1st. Got behind the first batter but battled back and got a ground ball DP, then struck out the 2nd batter. Mostly fastballs which seemed to be sitting at 94, but it was a short outing and did flash one nice breaking ball that thought could have been called a strike.

The main difference I've noticed between the 2 is that the players on the cape look like grown men who are already there physically, whereas the Northwoods league is clearly more guys like Moffett who have talent and potential but have some things to work on and room to grow.
I mean that's an obvious statement given what the cape is, but just going back and forth watching the 2 leagues it's very noticeable.

Even though it’s not recruiting related, I enjoy reading y’all’s informative posts without the Rants idiotic takes. It’s like “reading” a LSU baseball radio show, but way better than Lady Scone

Braswell is most definitely unproven in a good way. His production has been poor. Nippolt's production last season was abysmal. Guidry essentially hasn't played offense. The rest literally haven't played. It is most certainly an unproven group. Nome of them have had a season in the SEC that 2 of them are going to need to have next season.
I'm fine with saying that Luke Hill wouldn't have helped the situation. And maybe attitude plays a part in that.

This thread always houses summer ball conversation as well as recruiting stuff, so that's not necessary.
Since the portal has become a thing, this thread grows enough to need to change it over every year now anyway.

We need one other proven bat to protect him, not that he can't do it but I haven't seen it yet from Kling and Jones can be up and down. All I'm saying is I hope it's Montgomery to take the bat part that Crews had for us this past year.
