Read an article that said we offered him but we obviously coveted Guidry more at SS.

Gage beat out Thatcher Hurd at UCLA their freshman year. Was the Sunday starter as a true freshman at UCLA until he got hurt early in the year. Gage may just end up being the Friday guy

Did he really beat him out though? Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought Hurd started at the beginning of the season on Fridays after a couple of relief appearances before hurting himself? And gage started later on before getting injured himself?

I 100% agree that he can definitely be our Friday guy over Hurd if he’s throwing like some of the videos I’ve seen. But I’d lean more to saying they are 1A and 1B than putting one over the other if they’re both pitching to their ability

Zach Nagy reporting Cameron Johnson will enroll at LSU. Article features a quote from Johnson’s father saying “He’s a Tiger at heart and extremely excited to play for Jay! Let’s Geaux!”

Both of them started in the bullpen. Thatcher got the Sunday starts and after a few starts he got injured. Jump was more of a closer and high leverage bullpen arm at the time Hurd got hurt. Jump got a starting role a few wekks after Hurd got hurt and then got hurt himself.

heard the Moscona segment last week. The three players he mentioned not coming were Lape and two former commits: J. Burch from Delgado and J. Vanek.

If you weren’t convinced that he doesn’t know his head from his arse nor does he have any sources at all this should prove it beyond doubt since the last two had decomitted before this show.

Rooney is already on him.

Rooney is such a great hire. Another relentless recruiter. Not sure what Simpson brought in that regard, but man Rooney is an elite recruiter so have to think at the worst that’s no drop off from what we had

Is he gonna be the 3rd paid assistant?

I recall Jay saying that he was add a position as well so I was thinking we would add another coach as well

Anyway, back to the topic, would love to add Hill!!

How certain are you of this? It was my understanding he had TJ before the season started, perhaps well before the season started. I know they’ll ease pitchers in fresh off TJ, but if he had TJ in say December of 2022, there’s no reason to say with certainty he won’t be ready until mid-2024.

I think they tried to see if it would heal on its own before electing for surgery later on. Not sure when but I think I read on here that he had surgery a month or so into the season. I’m sure project, baytiger, or Lester can correct me since I’m most likely wrong about the surgery timeline

No, he's pretty much replacing Simpson in the Ops role.

I guess Wanaka will be elevated to third paid, unless they want to get another recruiter for that role.

I wonder what the difference between a paid position is and the camp money is for Wanaka.

You have to imagine the LSU baseball camp will draw a boatload of campers this year and going forward

exactly

and i will say after this draft....i will never say never again on a prospect making it to campus. im still in utter shock that as of now....looks like all but mitchel will make it to campus. Didnt think in a million years Cam would make it, and even slimmer all three lefties would make it....but looks that way as of now.

still dont think landon does next year, but not saying it wont happen like i have said in the past.

Same here. Doesn’t feel real that we only lost Mitchell.

Not only is Jay an assassin on the recruiting trail...it appears he is really really good at getting guys to understand their options and holding strong to a number and not just dropping it on day 3 and deucing out.

You seem to be more familiar with the kid than most. Do you think he has the potential to tap into a little more power? Say maybe 12-15 HR. Looking into his stats a little more it looks like he is really good defensively and the dude gets on base. 2 years with Samford and his OBP is .452. Doesn't strike out much and gets hit a lot. Jay loves those guys that get hit.

Maybe. Very strong lower half. He's actually built alot like Tre, just shorter. Not an altogether different skill set, either.

Indeed. He is excellent at helping kids through the process and identifying kids who are seriously considering college rather than signing guys who have no intent whatsoever

That’s the thing that stood out to me with the portal guys so far too. I noticed lots of draft eligible guys went and will of course sign. Certainly explains why we didn’t seem to push harder for certain guys.

Maybe “Lil Jay” knows what he’s doing

Mosconoa said the night LSU won the title that Luke Hill wanted to transfer to LSU. That he knew the family.

Furr was the middle infielder I wanted, namely for his defense, but I think Hill is a better hitter.
