Have we totally parted ways with former commit RHP Adrian Siravo? or do you see us keeping an eye on his recovery from TJ, and perhaps re-recruiting him down-the-line? He's from the Northeast, a small college guy looking to get into D1. The summer of 2021 is a long time ago but he came on late in the Cape that year.
I wonder where he will be this Spring or if he will even be healthy enough to pitch at all in 2023?

Siravo had TJ over the summer. He's not going to pitch anywhere in 2023. There is no publicly available information indicating either way if he's still attached to us. Reading the tea leaves, it looks like he is not.

thanks project, sounds like siravo's path likely won't be through BR

Josh Jordan is on today's episode of the Five Tool Podcast with Drew Bishop and Dustin McComas. I think it's on most platforms except for Spotify. I haven't listened to it yet, but I've listened to their podcast in the past. It's generally Texas (the state not the school) focused, and Five Tool I think is probably going to attempt to position themselves as a PBR or PG type org in the future. They do player rankings for Texas already and are expanding affiliates in other states.

Hey guys, I realize it's very early but any opinions on who might be in the running for the closer role this year? It needs to play out but no more Tall Paul.

Rick Vaughn or Aiden Moffett likely to get early looks imo

If Taylor doesn't win a starting role, then I'd like to see him tried out as closer.
He has the stuff, mental makeup, and college experience to be big in that role.

I'm going out to the box tonight. Looking forward to seeing some more pitchers.

Only other person I'd maybe consider on that list is Guidry.
When he was on Mahtook's show he said him and Jay were throwing around that as an option for him.

yea well even though guidry has been slow to adust to the speed of the college game, he still has outplayed thompson so far(not saying much, neither have been that good) and out hit thompson(again not saying much) so he may end up starting at SS. If thats the case, then no pitching i would imagine.

I'd agree if he wins the starting job. A lot to still figure out, I was just saying he probably makes the list being the talks seem to have been as a closer with him. He didn't pitch last weekend so not sure if his back is still hurt or it was just a decision to let him hit all weekend.

He's going to have to greatly outperform Thompson in order to get the start over him.
I agree with your assessment of the two thus far this fall, as I've been to all the scrimmages so far and neither have really out performed the other save Guidry's one (impressive) homerun.
The issue becomes known vs. unknown. While not a complete apples to apples comparison, it is similar to the Daniels vs. Nussmier argument before the start of this season.
With Thompson, Jay knows what he's getting at a foundational level as Thompson has been a starter in the SEC for 2 years now. He's a known quantity.
Guidry is not a known quantity on the college level. Yes, we, just as the coaches, know he is a great talent; but moving to from high school to college is always an adjustment for just about any level of talent. Additionally, it's not like Guidry is even rated vastly higher than Thompson was coming out of high school. In fact both were rated pretty similarly.
I'm not advocating for one over the other here and I'm excited for Guidry's future. I'm just saying that if both players are similar in performance leading up to the season, then it is Thompson that will have the upper hand due to his experience.

With so much depth on the mound, I wouldn't mind looking at Cooper and Ackenhausen for the left handed role on the back end. You will have teams that have imbalanced lineups, and not great RH options to run up there real late in the game. Nonetheless, I think we'll have several good RH options, and maybe not even 1 set guy to slam the door unless 1 guy really separates. Last year was kind of Gervase and Reyz, moreso Gervase than Reyz especially down the stretch, but still 2 true back end closer type guys. We might have 3-4 like that this year.

My counter argument would be: if they're even, just play the freshman, since he's your future. I can see both sides of the argument. My hope is that one separates. Otherwise, I'll be very nervous.
