Carson Montgomery, Florida State opening day starter enters the transfer portal. Should we kick the tires?

Rather have braden Montgomery instead

Ethan Frey and Aiden Moffett have reported to summer ball. Moffett hasn't thrown yet. Frey has played in one game and started at 1st base.

Jay Johnson's latest follow is a Baptist Pastor in Pineview, NC named Wes Johnson.

Saw that this morning. So far this is what I have found.
Mic Paul - 25 GP .214avg/.580 ops
Ethan Frey - 1 GP .333avg/1.167 ops
Brady Neal - 1 GP 0-3 with 1 rbi so seems like he may have had a sac fly
Tanner Reaves - 2 GP .000avg/.333 ops
Zeb Ruddell - 17 GP .245avg/.827 ops
Kaleb Applebey pitched 2.2 IP and has a 20.25era and 1.82 whip. When you look at his stats they are very confusing.
I can't get to the stats for the league the incoming freshman are playing in.

He actually hasn't been as bad as it seems. I read a couple of the box scores and I think he got credit for a walk that another pitcher finished and then that guy ended up scoring. It was weird. He's been okay though. Had at least one clean inning in one of the outings.
I get that that is a really low bar, but he's a guy that's been injured at every stop. Any step forward is a good one.
ETA: Also, I'm putting links to all the player stat pages I can find on the turnover thread on the rant. MOT has GameChanger and can pull the stats for the Marshalls League, but we definitely don't need daily updates on that.

I wonder if he got shut down due to injury again, hasnt pitched since June 21 and was shut down for a while between Jun 8 and Jun 21
Wonder if he makes it back here for 2024 or not

Burns credits won’t transfer to TCU so they are out

Interesting. Wouldn't have guessed that.

Wonder if returning, to Tennessee, is a possibility.

Has no reason to not come here since middle infield is wide open now (2B type). I dont know what draft stock he has but little weird he wants to spend a 3rd year in JUCO supposedly.
The only reason to stay at JUCO for the time being is that he is draft eligible as a JUCO at present. Implication being that he wants to test the draft waters.
JUCO players can be drafted in any year and are not locked into the 3 year until draft eligible like a player who signs and plays for a 4 year college/university (yada yada 2 year age eligibility exception).

This has already been addressed. He'd be draft eligible at LSU after next season as well. So that still not a valid reason.

I don't think he's got the capability to repair the bridges he burned there.

So we have a potential rotation of Holman burns and Hurd with others in the mix. I’m down.
Posted on 7/6/23 at 2:28 pm to Biggmatt78
That would be great to see Burns leave the dark side and come over to the good guys!!!

Tanner Reaves would be a good get, he can hit and has a good glove. I believe all this rumor of him staying at Blinn is that he wants to test the MLB draft waters to see what his options are. No way he just goes back to Blinn with an opportunity to play or start at LSU.

Is there a free site that has the baseball transfer portal guys listed and possibly ranked?
I assume the answer is no but I figured I’d ask.

Look up Sixty Four Analytics on Twitter. I think they have a public google doc with rankings.

I don't. I appreciate it though.
I may go back and log some pitcher stuff from time to time but I don't have the same kind of time I used to so I can't track stuff like I have in the past.
