Draft starts Sunday.
I think Jay may be steering clear of leverage type guys. Probably doesn't want to deal with wasting recruiting time on guys like Pineda and Carter Young last year. If you plan on using a team for leverage then your mind is basically made up to go in the draft unless the number is astronomically lower than your expectation. Using another team for leverage is to squeeze any extra pennies from a team, not using them for a giant pay day.

Yeah. I think Jay is only going to land guys out of the portal that he knows will play at least 1 season here no matter what. Think he hates being left at the alter with almost no back up options.

That could have really screwed is this year with those two leaving at the last minute. Had we had any injuries in the middle infield, we could have been in a bind

And I think jays waiting to see how the draft plays out to see which needs he has to attack. Might lose cooper, ack, Coleman and Jobert

Jay said this morning that he just got back from a recruiting visit this past weekend. I bet starting next week the dominos start falling.

TTU Friday night LHP Mason Molina entered portal. 108K in 83.1 innings with .207 OBA
LSU not on him yet from what I can tell. I wonder if this is an indication we feel good about some potential pitching transfers.
Edit: Jordan on him now

His info looks really good. I hope we get him as another LHP!
2023 (Sophomore/2nd Yr.):
Preseason All-Big 12 Team
2022 (Freshman/1st Yr.):
Named to Big 12 All-Freshman Team
Appeared in 20 games, including nine starts.
Was third in the starting rotation over the first seven weeks of the season while eighth start was a midweek on May 3 and ninth was the opening game of the Big 12 tournament. Made the fourth-most starts for the Red Raiders.
Moved into a bullpen role in early April, owned a 1.96 ERA out of the pen in 11 relief appearances over 18.1 innings of work.
In total, logged 57.2 innings pitched as a true freshman. The third-most on the team.
Ranked fourth on the team with 71 strikeouts.
Of the four pitchers in 2022 that tossed 55 or more innings, owned the best opposing batting average (.215)
His start in the Big 12 tournament was arguably highlight of the season as he led the team with to a win behind a season-long outing of 6.2 IP and struck out a season-high 10 batters in a 5-3 win (watch) versus Kansas State. The true freshman carried a no-hitter through 6.1 IP in the postseason start and struck out six of the first seven batters he faced.
Molina, yes please

We are pretty stocked on lefties, but if he wants in, we cant turn that talent down

Feels like things are starting to pick up. Players are getting through holiday weekend, staffing changes and obviously the draft this weekend. Within the next two weeks, I think we will have a good idea of what next year looks like and a good reason to be excited.

We really ain’t that stocked on lefties. The draft could very easily take cooper, ack and Coleman

As he should. Can never have too many Left Handed pitchers.

Coleman isn’t getting drafted no shot
Posted on 7/5/23 at 11:37 am to Datsmoneydude
We have several lefty recruits coming in, coleman is staying, herring also, potentially bronzini and primeaux. Thats alot

There’s never enough. Load the wagon

Yeskie loves LHP. Texas A&M had 9 of them last year.
Posted on 7/5/23 at 11:59 am to josh336
You want to rely on freshman, 2 redshirts, a dude coming off TJ?. Herring is legit, but we need more LHPs for sure.
