When you develop the best first baseman in the history of first basemens, you can afford a few shabby years.

I was told the trainer, Cory Couture was leaving to go into the private business world. This is a bigger loss than people will think. One of the best dudes out there and one of the best in the business

That is a big deal. I did see they just hired a new trainer, but it seemed like they hired an assistant that would be working under Cory. I guess it was a replacement.

I haven't seen anything on a new ops director, but it's possible that outside of whoever is hired, I'm the only person interested in this hire.

So pg dropped the updated 2027 rankings. This is kids in 8th grade that will play mainly 14u this year. No LA kids in top 10. I don't have access to full list, but would imagine Jordin Griffen would be top rated LA kid.

No surprise to see chase fuller as #1. People have been on him since he was 10 as he has always been huge. He still is pretty raw too. Most of these kids though have played in the pg select fest since they were 11. If anyone has access to full list, please post.

You can add me to your ranks as well. I always care about who the different coaches and staff positions are.

I had assumed he would just promote Drew Finley into that position; but you'd think if he were going to do that it would've happened already.

Little surprising he hasn't found one yet as I know they still run some camps during the fall; so I think the Ops person typically helps with a lot of the logistics for that on top of wanting them there for when fall practices begin to play whatever role they do during that time.

Finley is still in undergrad, since he went pro out of high school. I don't think he's eligible for that role. Additionally, I think he's able to be more hands-on in the undergrad role than he would be in the Ops role.

Tutko is running the camps I think. But like you I would have thought they'd want the new Ops guy up and running by now. And they may have one but just haven't announced it.

Ah. I knew Finley was taking classes, but didn't realize it was undergrad. Thought I had seen him post something on social media about grad school at one time. But that all makes sense.

Like you I had kind of thought about the coaching angle of it and him possibly being able to work with the pitchers more from his current role than in Ops. I'm guessing Wes is okay with Drew continuing to work with the pitching staff.

The guy who maintains the field has also left. Beginning to have some concerns as to why so many people are leaving. I haven’t heard anything on a new OPs guy yet

If we’re going to replace those guys with the level of guys we replaced the coaches with then I’m good with it. Upgrades.

Hmm. Are they sniffing around the program for recruiting violations? I know the natural inclination is to think that maybe Jay is hard to handle, and that may be true. Or, it could all just be coincidental.

The turf guy moved to Metairie Country Club and moved to the NOLA area for family reasons. But in general, golf courses seem to be the holy grail for turf ,guys so I don't see it as that unusual.

It's easy to look at all the departures in the aggregate and get concerned. Despite a lot of "promotions" (Kelly, Fitz, and Nordgren) there is still reason to
keep an eye on it.
Couture probably stands to either make more in the private sector or have a little better work life balance.

It could all be coincidental, or it could be a bunch of guys being spurred on to make decisions at the same time, forced or not. Time will tell.

Tyler Lenz was the Turf guy. His wife is opening a dental practice in New Orleans and he’s moving to golf.

If you’re going to do turf you want to be in golf.

I believe he’s over the course at the Metairie Country Club now. Probably a pretty damn good job.

In the Baton Rouge area, the 14U Canes Black team has been one of the best in the Southeast for years. Their top pitcher Jones throws high 70s. Ascension Rays were competitive with them and extremely good but they had a few 2026 kids on the 13u team last year.

The Weller kid that will be going to Live Oak is elite. He's played up a couple years and in regional tournamnets with the Knights mostly. Big kid with big arm.

Big 3rd baseman for the Saints is probably 6 ft 1 and 185 lbs and his dad pitched at LSU.

Johnson kid 2027 that will be at LO is elite but he may end up focusing on football

Smith kid who will be Denham 2027 is big big kid with big arm.

Oak Forest will have some extremely good talent 2027 and 2028 Most of those kids played in the Lions organization which was high majors and played alot of regional competition before they split into a couple teams.

Doyle or Walker will get the Singleton kid who won the HR derby at Ripkin at 12U. I cant tell you how many I have seen him hit out over the years.

How many of these are LSU caliber? Dont know but they are really good 2027 players that i have seen.

2D sports Youth twitter shows highlites of all their games each weekend.

Jay doesn’t stop. The dude is an animal and probably isn’t for everyone but he’s the kind of guy you definitely hitch your wagon to if you to win.

Some people want those expectations and some don’t.

Not saying any of the people leaving are leaving for those reasons bc I have no idea, but just commenting on the insinuation above that there may be a reason for concern.

No concern whatsoever as long as Jay is running the program. I’ve seen enough to feel very very good about the baseball program.

I know that you like to post cryptic stuff typically with negative insinuations and bring very little info to the board beyond vague comments that offer no substance but only attempt to convey that you’re an insider.

And you may well be. But you come off like an a-hole and someone who gets off on e-cred because the validation is obviously important to you.

That’s a bit of what I know.

And to be fair, it takes some planning. I’m not sure it’s an impulse move because he doesn’t like the coach.
