Not trying to come off mean or anything but I think he would have to do better than what his stats show at Miami (Ohio) to have LSU give him a look. I don't think he would really improve the position if Milazzo is healthy and LSU doesn't really have the extra room to just give.

If they pursue a catcher in the portal, I'd think they'd go for one with big power numbers if that exists. Milazzo will be the defensive guy. Any of the 3 freshmen (Neal, Jones, Frey) could be the spell guy 1-2 times per week. Still have Travinski in the mix, so far, and Priester isn't officially gone. I just don't think it's a position that they'll scramble for, but they wouldn't pass up a proven power guy.

Does a baseball portal list exist anywhere that's not behind a paywall like D1's? Just curious, so hard to find out who all is in the portal for baseball.

I think D1's is the most up-to-date. Not sure if there are any others though.

A guy on the South Carolina 247 site does a running list of SEC players in the portal that isn't behind a paywall. That's the only thing I'm aware of. Some SBNation sites will do lists for the specific school they're affiliated with.

Isn't Neal pretty solid defensively?

with what we have coming back and the 3 coming in, i dont see it. I know 2 of them will prolly out grow the positions but they could also play it if need be.

I don't think we will pursue any, but if one falls to us that is worth taking then we get him. Get Milazzo healthy and continue to be improve on being productive at the plate and catcher position is fine without transfers.

If Neal makes it to campus I don't think we have a need at catcher. Even if Milazzo has a set back, Neal can be an everyday catcher.

Micah Bucknam is making his second start today for Trenton in the MLB Draft League. It starts around 530 central. I think there is a way to watch the games but I'm not sure. I feel like they're all on MLB.com or free though MLB.tv, but I don't know if you need to already be subscribed to MLB.tv or not. Either way, I never know how to find them, and I don't think I'm inept when it comes to that sort of thing.

That’s a fair point and assessment. I could also argue that the quality of pitching and coaching is in a different category than LSU. He’s a 4 year guy, and has great game experience. In my opinion, he would be a better fill than a true freshman, and could be coached up as well. The SEC schools that have reached out to him see potential if they are close to offering, which they seem to be. But I’m no expert by any means. Just for conversation

Definitely something there for him with other SEC schools looking like you said. Seems to have some pop in the bat but the competition he is doing it against isn't great. So you would think going against SEC competition the numbers would drop from where they are now. May not be the case but I think that is what happens more time than not. Can take what McManus did at Samford last season to what he did at LSU this season.

I just don't feel like he pops out enough for him to be a take for LSU with the roster management they will already be dealing with. Hopefully he can get picked up by one of the other SEC schools and show out and do well.

you recently mentioned you had like 63 guys on your list for next season. With Holt out and Tebrake in, I'm at 61. I still have the portal guys that haven't announced a destination on the list.

I'm wondering where we might be different.

I kid, I kid (bc Thompson came on strong defensively to close the season), but really, just when Morgan thought he'd be let off the hook in summer ball...

This is probably the SC 247 guy you were talking about. I can read this SEC baseball player portal list without paying/joining the site, just hit the refresh button...

I thought Morgan was invited to play with the national team. Is he not playing there or is that in addition to. You think he needs to rest that knee.

I noticed I had 2 mistakes on my list. I'm also at 61 right now. 38 current roster and 23 recruits. 5 guys on in the portal with no destination announced yet.
