I think he has just played that well in his Sr year. The steam had been picking up.
Same with Snelling. His profile rise was inevitable

Watched Rosepine play in the state semis Wednesday. Ethan Frey impressed me. He struck out on a curveball his first time up and then adjusted and launched a mammoth HR off a curve his second time up. I didn't realize how ahtletic he is. At his height, wouldn't it make sense to move him to 1B? It's going to be hard on his legs to be a 6-5 catcher in college. Just a thought or two.

Just based on his size I would assume he moves off catcher too, unless he is some defensive wonder
But 1B/RF/DH maybe?

Problem is both catchers (unless Neal actually gets on campus) are large and you probably need one to stick, the other at 1B

I’m not sure about Frey’s defense, but I think it’s highly unlikely Jones becomes an every day player at catcher.

Yea, im not sure about eithers defense....
But we need to bring a catcher in I'd think.
How big were Cresse and Papierski?

Pap is listed at 6’3 and he looked like a unit back there
If Frey is 6’5 he would definitely be a huge outlier for the position size wise. It’s hard to imagine him sticking.

Catcher is a prime portal signing position for next year

If we go the Louisiana native at an out of state school, grad transfer route, Jay Curtis at Dayton and Hunter May at Alabama State fit that bill.
Those are just names that fit that category, I know of zero connection or interest on the part of either of them in us or us in them.

You have to think Johnson will have a better chance this year to get in the market for some of the top mid major players looking to make a jump.
ETA: Let’s officially start the campaign for Michael Carico to enter the portal.

Catcher is definitely a top 2 intriguing storyline going into the off-season. Tons of bodies returning and possibly incoming from HS. I hope Priester stays and has a nice jump from red shirting.

Hopefully Priester is a thing, that could solve that problem. I don’t think Curtis is SEC material. But hey who knows

wow. I just looked at his numbers. What a jump from freshman year to sophomore year.

I think his development will determine how hard we shop for a catcher in the portal. If he sticks around, which at this point why wouldn't he.
ETA: We only have one catcher committed for the 2023 class and he's a projected first rounder at this point. I would guess we'll see some movement on that front this summer when the coaching changes happen and guys decommit or new guys pop up on the radar.

yeah he's a stud. I think he's a top 10 player in that class and probably will stay there. I wish like hell he could make it. Another what could have been catcher next to Drew Romo, Ian Moller, and Carter Jensen recently. That's a position we have recruited too well lol

I didn’t realize it, but Romo has hit really well in the minors

BM V Curtis semifinal is streaming on Crescent City Sports right now.
Jesuit v Catholic semifinal streams after it.

Yeah he’s killing it. He’s already entered mlb.com top 100 prospects (#100)

Here’s an idea of where Michael Kennedy’s head is at. Recruiting phenom Konnor Griffin to be a Tiger.
I love that this staff is all over twitter, it’s really made it easier to follow recruiting just by seeing CJJ likes on Twitter.
