If he continues to grow he will be in the lineup

I mean, he was a freshman who finished the year hitting 3rd in a lineup that had/has 4 guys that will be drafted in the top 100 of their respective mlb draft.

But yes time will tell if he’s in the lineup next year lmao

Pearson and crews are locks. I think dugas is starting in left or at 2nd. So i think he may take that outfield spot….or morgan….or kling

Peersyn could shrink and still be in the lineup

Crews, White, and Morgan are your lineup locks. Pearson is practically a lock unless Jay sits him against LHP, but I think he'll be fine against LHP. Dugas is also practically a lock. Skenes will be in the lineup almost all the time unless Jay chooses to let him rest for and recover from his starts, and just hits him 1-2 times per week. That leaves 3-4 spots with plenty of options to fill them. I think Kling's path will look alot like Pearson's, easing in early in the season then a fixture later on. If Guidry doesn't win a job outright, I think we still see him a good bit to groom him for next year - he's not a guy that will hurt you by giving him reps, even if he's not option 1. Need to figure out the infield and catcher spots, as far as how you structure those reps, and how to handle DH duties.

I'm pretty comfortable and confident with the lineup and depth now. I'm still not completely settled with the pitching, so hopefully the fall will line things up a bit better.

ETA: My way too early prediction is that Thompson blows up - .320 with 15 bombs, good SS, and gets a good draft slot.

Seems like Peersin and Cruz are probably gonna be out there to start for sure. I’d bet on Cling as well

My point was that only Crews will start 56 games at one outfield position next year (center).

I like Pearson, and he will play and play a lot, but I don't see him penciled in as a 56 game starter in any one outfield spot at this point. He may well DH some games as different lineups are shuffled around.

He's a pretty meh outfielder defensively.

I would say Kling in RF, Pearson in LF, Dugas at 2B, Neal possibly at C.

Neal is really good. I’d be surprised if he’s not a day 1 starter. He’s one of those kids who is already better than what’s in front of him and he’s still so young. Let him get the butterflies out and get accustomed to the college game so he’s got his sea legs by conference play.

He’s just really polished for such a young kid

Neal and Milazzo will push each other. It'll be great to have that kind of competition. Milazzo was the clear cut defensive option the last few years, so he really didn't have competition, but Neal won't be far off defensively if at all.

Agreed. Neal will be the starter by SEC next year. You need his bat with Milazzo as a late inning defensive replacement.

Guidry is also going to play every day.

There are so many different combinations but if I’m heading into opening day this would be my lineup.

Guidry 2B
Crews CF
Pearson RF
White 3B
Morgan 1B
Neal C
Thompson SS
Skenes/Jobert DH
Dugas LF

Idk how you keep skenes out of the DH spot tho. And unless Jobert improves drastically he might not even play.

Also history shows opening day starting lineup is never the same as sec opening day lineup.

Both have a lot of swing and miss at the plate.

If Jobert doesn’t show major improvement with being more consistent he won’t play much. His home runs were great but he struck out too much. Skenes will hit for power and average. I think he will get more at bats next year than Jobert.

I knew I was leaving someone out

Skenes would obviously hit higher in the order

One way is to start Jobert when the other team is pitching a right hander and Skenes when they start or throw a lefty.

[JT] good SS

this would be so fantastic, if he just shuts up the doubters. My prediction is like yours that JT does indeed secure the ss position and Guidry will do a lot of late relief
