I don’t think he will pitch & catch on the same weekend. Arm care no-no especially in his money year
He could pitch Friday night and catch the Sunday game. I think that's the only way he pitches and catches in the same weekend.

Or catches Friday night, DH Saturday, and pitches Sunday.

Preston Johnson went overslot with the Orioles by about $75k. Doesn't make a huge dent, but every little bit helps us get closer to keeping Young.
ETA: They went full slot with their 8th rounder and saved about $15k on their 6th rounder.
Problem is just with the 5% overage they're going to be a problem.

Yea, I suppose that would work too. The problem with that is when the Friday night game gets rained out and pushed to Saturday, I dont know if you want him catching 9 innings saturday during the day in 90+ degree weather and then turning around and pitching on Sunday.

He could but he won’t

We're going to have some L/R rotations depending on the opposing pitcher.
In the outfield, you could sit Pearson against a lefty to play Dugas or Kling.
Behind the plate, you have a left handed bat in Neal that you could use now.
Your DH will depend on how you fill out the rest of the card. You have lefties and righties to use now, Dugas and Morgan as both IF and OF, several infield combinations, several OF combinations, several catchers.
Obviously arm care is the primary objective in how you handle Skenes. But lineup matchups and combinations may also dictate some of the how and when he's used. He'll start on the mound on the weekend, the question is when. He's going to be in the lineup at catcher or DH, the question is when and how much.

Orioles saved about $5k on their 10th rounder.
Brewers saved about $105k on their 7th rounder.

Can someone do the updated math for noot? Im less worried about carter, for the sole reason that if the orioles want him, theyll sign him

Yeah, the Orioles will have the money for Carter Young. It will just come down to whether they have other players prioritized over him and whether they go for more than whatever his number is. I think odds are now vastly more likely that Young is gone versus Noot. The numbers just don’t look there for the Brewers.

Rumblings of Jack Pineda not getting a deal done? I thought Kansas City would have plenty enough money to get that done.

Which explains more why dugas will get a shot to play the infield along with white and morgan.

That would be huge for us if they dont. But im not holding my breath. These things usually come down to the deadline and the mlb team usually gets it done

Don't play with my emotions Smoky.

KC saved in the first 10 rounds, but then wiped it on a deal with Sandlin.
ETA: And they still have to sign Wallace.

Do not play with my emotions. I like him over Carter Young anyway. His bat is better and he is a good fielder and a perfect leadoff or nine hole hitter. Carter Young is a great fielder as well but if we could get one or the other I would take the kid from Baylor.

:WhyNotBoth:
And are there actually rumblings on Pineda or is that just coming from the comment in Kendall’s Skenes writeup?

Don't get me wrong I would take both no questions. I just think the O'S will have the money to sign Carter.

Really just looking at the numbers. Unless they screw Cayden Wallace, Pineda is going to have to take very little money to sign...and he might.
Posted on 7/29/22 at 10:17 am to DRock88
Agreed DROCK88 some guys just want to be pros no matter what the money is.
