am talking in general some kids no matter what they are offered 200 300 K just want to go pro.
You realize the majority of HS players get way more than this, right

I think you're being selfish. If he gets hurt with a career ender what did he gain out of it? He can get an education later. If they slapping 1.5 million on the table you can't blame him for leaving. Pitchers also have it worse with injuries so if his arm falls to jello his career is done.
If it's a low number then he was never coming to LSU anyway. Guess we'll have to wait and see. If we lose him bright side to this is it will make roster choices easier and also I think we have enough depth in the bullpen to be perfectly fine. It's getting a little cramped in there now. If we get Skenes that's amazing and a nice cherry on top. Maybe they can slide some more NIL money to Skenes since 2 of our transfers not staying.

Regarding Noot, or any prospect in any sport, few of us know enough about his personal situation to pass judgement. Maybe he's not much of a student and hates school. Maybe he has a personal or financial situation that steers him to going pro. Maybe there's a concern of career ending injury. We can only hope the coaches sell the benefits of playing for LSU. What is the value of three years of tuition and fees, housing, great training facilities, great nutrition staff, tutors and as much help with class scheduling and requirements as possible, probably better coaching than minor league ball, more exposure playing on TV and in front of larger crowds than minor league, free medical treatment if needed, an education, the college life, coeds, being big man on campus, no traveling on a bus from one empty stadium in podunk town to another, staying in flea bag motels, the chance to improve your stock? Throw in NIL money and it should take a hefty signing bonus to go pro. Also remember, it's a one time bonus. After that the annual salary is garbage. Take out taxes and agent fees, if applicable, and that nets I'm guessing 60% of the gross. It would be hard for me to not enroll if I was blessed with the kind of ability. But every kid has his own situation to consider. Wish him well wherever he goes.

If Noot just bets on himself in 3 years he could conservatively make 5 million being developed by coach Wes and competing against the best in the SEC.
Put down the juice.
Only 9 picks in the last draft had slot values $5 million or more.
“Conservatively”

Yea as much as it sucks if true, you can’t blame him if he got what he believes to be life changing money

I don't know what the fricking Brewers saved to give a 19th rd pick what 2 million? I don't think so, if Noot developed at LSU in 3 years he'd make at least 3 million. The kid is that good Conservatively saying. It's not over till it's over.

It sucks, but I can't blame the kid if he got the number he was looking for.
Noot looks like he's going to be an amazing starting pitcher.

If you mean LSU is going to try to give him an NIL deal to come here you can probably toss that idea out the door. I think NIL could help baseball more than any other sport but how are you going justify giving a recruit 500K+ deals when the baseball program barely draws 1-2 million in profit a year.
Posted on 7/26/22 at 7:02 pm to deuce985
Because it’s not the school’s money going towards NIL deals
