In some good draft news, the Pirates were able to bank enough money from going under slot on the 1/1 pick that they signed a ton of over slot HS guys. Including today with Braylon Bishop, an Arkansas commit that was drafted after the 10th round. I imagine their fans felt good about keeping him since he was in state guy drafted relatively late. So this is nice to see.

Arky/Bishop in reverse. Possible return to Vandy?

A Vandy pitching signee just switched to a juco in Florida. I wonder if this has anything to do with that. A local Tennessee kid too.

I’ve been mentioning the guys that I see the coaches following on Twitter for the upcoming class, but I’ve been staying away from doing it for future classes. I have a Twitter list built with about 120 names of guys in future classes we are looking at.
A recently added target for the 2022 class is Giancarlo DiGiacomo. I have to think he’s Gio’s brother, or at least cousin, but due to the sheer awesomeness of his name and the family connection I felt like I should mention him.

If he is a relative, it is odd that he is a late add to the list. Unless he had no interest in LSU until recently.
Project- Just based on the twitter action, are you expecting more portal adds? Any particular position we are focusing on?

I don’t think they’re done trying to add pieces for next season, whether portal or HS or juco, but some of that movement may not happen til after august 1st when guys either sign pro or don’t and other schools have to figure out their scholarship stuff.
I know there was a July 1 deadline to guarantee eligibility, but I don’t anticipate any waiver requests being denied.

Saw on Twitter tonight that A&M is getting the catcher from Oregon State. Hope we get the pitcher.

Just at first glance (I haven't really dug too deep into it), SEC teams are shoring up the catcher position through the portal.
LSU (from Samford)
Florida (from Coastal Carolina maybe?)
Tennessee (from West Virginia)
Texas A&M (from Oregon State)
I think there are others as well. But given that it's generally the hardest position to develop and experience is always a plus, it makes a lot of sense.
I also saw where Johnson is now following the BRCC coach on twitter. It would be nice if we were able to leverage them as a development pipeline. We've never actually signed a kid from there. They just moved 13 guys to the next level, most in program history. Their new coach has them raising their profile. LSUE and Delgado are good, but adding BRCC to the mix would be helpful, especially with them being in town.

It is time to tap that potential

I would not be surprised if a relative of Gio wasn't interested in a Paul-led LSU program. Gio and Paul didn't seem to see eye to eye. I don't think Gio would have even stayed if Paul didn't step down.

Situation to monitor, Eric Silva was committed to UCLA and picked in the 4th round by the Giants. He hasn’t signed yet, I don’t think he’s still committed to UCLA after they kept so many guys from the draft and probably don’t have scholarship money since they weren’t expecting him. Still 4 days to sign but it’s something to watch.

Any idea if Johnson is in his ear?

Silva is a pretty average/small dude with a big arm, good movement, somewhat unrefined. I like those kind of guys, especially ones with a chip on their shoulder.
