I was just looking at ESPNs newly released rankings for 2021, and in the top 19 players for next years draft, all the HS players are committed to SEC schools.
Luke Leto is considered a top 5 HS player. Tennessee commit Brady House is the consensus top HS player from all the sites I've seen.
Also, most of the college players at the top of the list are from SEC schools as well. Including Jaden Hill.

I don't know if our coaches are looking in the transfer portal for guys. But an interesting player hit the portal yesterday. Jaylyn Williams from Jackson State. FanGraphs profiled him as a statistical diamond in the rough prior to the draft and considered him a good UDFA candidate.
He's had an OPS over 1.000 in each of his two years at Jackson State, and in both his years at Co-Lin in Mississippi. He's hit at every stop I could find stats for him on. He played on a summer team that went to the NBC World Series (where the JUCO national team that Garza played on goes every other year). And he hit .500 with an 1.100 OPS there.
In 4 years of college baseball his lowest OBP has been .487.
Co-Lin Fr and Soph
B-Ref for Jr and Sr years at JSU
He's also played like 7 different positions. Mostly 3rd base in D1, but has also played 1st, caught, played all over the OF.
I don't know his willingness to spend his last year of eligibility at a place he wouldn't be guaranteed a starting spot. But I think he could be an asset at LSU. His hitting stats, even in SWAC context, are pretty ridiculous.
ETA: And he's only ever struck out more times than he's walked once in 4 years. His sophomore year at Co-Lin he struck out 25 times and walked 22.

For those that want to watch some of the 2021 Talent at the perfect game showcase today through Sunday in Hoover, here is the link. From what I hear, this stuff isn’t usually televised but due to the covid stuff, they are televising it for scouts.

If anyone wants to see some LSU commits, click on the PG link from a few posts ago. Game 2 is about to start and Brock Selvidge is the starting pitcher for the gray team. Both teams have LSU guys.

Project, I don't know if you or anyone else heard the Storz interview with Moscona today, but he's committed to trying this football thing. I can't imagine this is good for his baseball future, especially if he makes the team in the fall.

He was specifically asked if he still planned to pitch for LSU and said yes. Maybe that changes, but it doesnt sound like thats definitely happening as of now

A Freshman from Ascension Episcopal, Blaise Blancher just committed to A&M. I coached his Dad on a summer All Star team and he played at Rummel. Family owns the Rock N Bowls in NOLA and Lafayette and Ye Olde College Inn.
Know anything about him, Project? Seems pretty young to be committing.

A&M has a few Louisiana kids committed in classes that are way far out. Their new recruiting coordinator used to be at Southern Miss, and was at SELU before that. So I assume he's leaning on his Louisiana connections. I don't know anything about that kid specifically, but I do find it a little offputting how young kids are being recruited in general.

I've got the PG National stream up while I work so I can watch it a little bit. I've been impressed with a few different Oklahoma commits. The kid that's pitching for the Cardinal team right now is dealing. Aaron Calhoun from Pearland, TX.
In the last game they had a kid from St Louis, Brock Daniels, get a big hit, a gapper extra base hit.

LSU picked up a 2022 in state commit from Tyler Lejeune. He’s a middle infielder from Iota.

Any of the new freshmen playing summer ball yet? Who and how are they doing?

Brooks Rice is playing in the SECL, he's thrown about 3 innings. He's up to 94 MPH.
Will Safford is also playing in the SECL, but I haven't been able to find any stats for the Baton Rouge pod of that league.
Dylan Crews is scheduled to play in the Florida Collegiate League that opens up play next week.
Brody Drost is playing with his summer ball organization. Garrett Edwards is doing something similar and I think I saw he was up to 93 or 94 MPH as well.
With most of the leagues shut down, there wasn't an opportunity to send guys out to the Prospect League (where Safford was scheduled) or the Cal Ripken League or the Perfect Game League.

There has been no indication that he's not coming to LSU.

“LSU has always been a dream for me,” Floyd said in a message late in the week following the draft. “I never knew just how bad I wanted to go there until I had the opportunity to sign last night. I plan to work hard at LSU, get my education, and hopefully be a MLB prospect again in 2023.”

Romo still hasn’t signed.... Colorado had 2 first round picks and signed the other one. They still have another pick to sign, besides Romo.
Rockies were also not one of the 3 teams Romo said he would sign with.
Not getting hopes up.

Rice is one of those wildcards. If he can control his windup he‘ll be a reliever as a freshman.

Not LSU related, but JUCO baseball is taking a hit right now. A few weeks ago Broward College in Florida dropped all sports. Today 10 JUCOs in Arizona cancelled all sports for next year. Sinclair CC in Ohio also cancelled all sports for next year.
There will probably be others.
Between those 12 schools, that's a lot of spots for guys to transfer or be recruited to and from. I don't know that all 10 AZ JUCOs were powerhouses, but it's usually a heavily recruited league. Sinclair is typically one of the better teams in their state and they do a good job of sending guys to 4 years schools. And Broward is typically a good program in South Florida.
I don't think this is the last we're going to see of it. We will see rosters swell at the remaining JUCOs as well. Cali, Texas, and Nevada JUCOs are probably going to get an influx from the AZ teams.
