Big news on recruiting fronts:

Per Kendall Rogers:

The @NCAA Division I Committee for Legislative Relief has given D1 Baseball relief. Includes (for the 2020-21 academic year):

* 35-man roster cap lifted. No limitation.

* Annual counter has increased from 27 to 32

* The 25% scholarship minimum eliminated for a year.

Wow.

Going to be working late tonight, would be much appreciated if someone kept the LSU related draft stuff updated in this thread. Thanks in advance!

More Sports Board will track the first round
Tomorrow will be the bigger impact on LSU outside of Romo and Cabrera who go sneak into late first round or the 1st round comp picks

Anyone that's drafted is pretty much gone.

Gotcha.
Whats all this hope and talk about the lesser possibility of Romo coming then? BC hes for sure getting drafted right?

If he gets past the point where teams can offer what he wants, he just won't get picked. Teams are going to get handshake deals in place before a pick is made. That's how it's done every year, but this year it's even more important because there are so few picks.

If there’s no roster restrictions I wonder if we get a few guys who want out of their NLI after not getting drafted? AJ labas was one a few years ago and I’m sure we’ve signed plenty more

Labas was drafted by the Mets. He got out of his LOI because North Florida fired Smoke Laval. Labas situation was more similar to Mathis and Arnold this past year.

But there haven't really been any coaching moves made, at least that would put players we want back on the market.

LSU just picked up a 2022 commit from Central named DJ Primeaux. He is a left handed pitcher.

We let that outfielder out of his LOI a couple years ago. Can’t remember his name but he ended up at Florida State I believe.

Cabell. Great at both HR’s and K’s.

That’s the one. I was super bummed when he didn’t end up coming here. Was really looking forward to watching him play

I was too and I felt like the coaches may have called their own bluff too soon when asking him if he was going to entertain offers.

He never got close to what he wanted to sign with however he wasn’t “guaranteed” a starting spot in 19 so the point may be moot.

They may have made a mistake there but I really can’t blame them much for needing a hard answer. They had to find out where he stood so they could go after second options.

He also struck out like 40% of the time his freshman year. Fans would have hated him.

Our fans hate everyone

I also don’t think he would’ve started as a freshman so maybe he improves his plate approach by now.
