I agree, but with the signing deadline this month, he could still enroll in intersession then the fall semester and still be eligible. Just didn’t know if he was a straight no, since we seem to take injured pitchers! Lol

I think if he fell in the draft due to injury we had a chance. He got picked pretty high so it’s gonna be hard to see him say yes to pro ball, then get back in the “college for 3 years” mindset. That’s why those guys usually go juco and try to get picked the next season

Hey guys do you think we have a legit shot of getting the pitcher Lewis, seems to be dragging out because of where he was picked and his injury?

It’s possible, it’s probably a 90/10 chance he signs.
Also, Josh Smith will sign, lets just get that out the way.

Even if he doesn’t sign, I feel like he may be a JUCO threat. As far as I know he hasn’t been in contact with the staff (I don’t have inside info, though). It’s just a lot of players in his situation tend to go the JUCO route to get drafted next year.

Jimmy Lewis signed this morning

Ah, oh well. RHPs weren’t a must for the class anyways, and I’m happy we landed Connor Phillips. Kinda similar stuff-wise if I’m not mistaken.

Took lewis off the list. The two new recruits have finally been reported by a real publication after a few weeks of it being here first.

Nice job on that Project. Appreciate the work you do...

Drew Romo is now one of the top 10 prospects on PG... good for him, not good for us
Posted on 7/10/19 at 10:40 pm to ProjectP2294
So if my math is correct, we currently have 23 returning players and 15 new players which brings us to 38 as of today.
Gone:
Seniors: Duplantis, Broussard, Reid, Moffitt, Gilbert
Drafted and signed: Smith, Hess, Peterson, Watson
Leaving: Mathis, Ripoll, Threadgill
Am I missing anyone else?

That's the numbers I've got as well.

Ray Torres just committed to San Jacinto. I'll take him off the commit list later.

Just for shits and giggles, I've been researching other SEC schools to see how their roster will turnover this offseason, what their numbers look like right now, and how their post draft recruiting classes look.
I just dug into South Carolina, who had 6 guys transfer out and they're bringing in 7 JUCO transfers and 2 Grad transfers, along with 8 Freshmen. They're over the 35 by 2 (so are we currently).
But man, we would be having riots if we got to the point of needing to bring in 7 JCs and 2 grad transfers. That's a lot of back fill.
Also, this excerpt is from an article I found here: LINK

Injuries were significant this year, and even the most demanding baseball fan knows that when 10 of a team’s 19 pitchers get hurt, there’s not a lot of success to be found in a four-game-per-week schedule. Those injuries were definitely the biggest reason why South Carolina stumbled to a 28-28 record

Maybe SC needs to look at their training staff.

South Carolina should have never hired Alan Dunn. 2017 Mississippi State shouldn’t have either.
Oh wait

2020 INF Vince Smith is no longer showing as an LSU commit on Perfect Game. I haven't taken him off the list yet though because I haven't seen anything else indicate that he's no longer committed to LSU.
ETA: Nevermind, I will take him off the list after seeing this in a PG article:

Fast-forward to the championship game of the Gold bracket, where Team Elite took down the Astros 7-2, getting excellent contributions from up and down their lineup. Vince Smith (2020, Clearwater, Fla.) struck a decisive blow with a two-RBI triple that put Team Elite ahead for good. Smith is an uncommitted middle infielder with lots to like about his profile, with solid speed, enough twitch to play up the middle, and quality bat speed that portends to more and more as he continues to get stronger.

Smith sounded like a good player, wonder what happened to make him de-commit?

It looks like Connor Phillips will be going the JUCO route instead of coming to LSU. He will be going to McClennan JC.

Phillips, who just turned 18 years old in May, became a 35th round pick of the Toronto Blue Jays earlier this month. He initially was set to pitch for LSU, but will instead pitch for McLennan Community College this coming year, according to Faltysek.

Very disappointed to hear that. I was looking forward watching him compete for weekday games. That kinda hurts I feel. We lost now both Phillips and Lewis.
