Last year a majority of the first round selections received 2 million. Every report is he's looking for more than this but he must set his price high to negotiate lower.
If the word about Turang's number being $2.5MM is true, he would have to drop to pick 27 to be considered over slot.
But I know the Cardinals are one of the teams evaluating him for the first round. They pick at like 19 and $2.5MM would be under slot there.
Also, I read that Chase Costello injured his pitching hand this season, which could drop him down draft boards as he wouldn't be able to throw for scouts leading up to the draft. I feel like we were in pretty good shape for him anyway, given that he's a legacy player, but I have to think this helps.
Easton McMurray, from CA but with family in Livingston Parish, didn't pitch at all from what I can tell this season. There were some soreness issues that kept him on the shelf. He raked at the plate for his team though.

The one I'm getting my hopes up on is Cabell. He could be a star in 3 more years, I just know his name is going to show up in round 2 or 3 however.

He would be a draft eligible sophomore too

If prospect rankings are any indication it seems like Duplantis draft position may put him on the fence about returning.

I really hate that this draft has hints of being good for LSU. I know I'm going to be really let down come next week.

I feel good about Mathis and Garza. Gavin Dugas is about to step in the batters box for the Danville Dans as I type this. He's going to compete for playing time as a freshman. He could be a late round draft pick but he's going to make it to campus. It's okay to get excited about this class. I don't think the draft is going to destroy it. Might just take a bit off the top.

The more I hear about Garza the more excited I get.
How is Dugas bat? From what limited stats I've seen he doesn't appear to be much of a hitter but I don't have any subscriptions to pay sites

Adam, are you going to give your breakdown of LSU's signing class chances prior or after the draft? Also please chime in, Project.

Dugas knocks the living poo out of the ball. He hit .450 this year with .595 OBP, seven doubles, seven home runs, 27 RBI, 40 runs scored, and 11 stolen bases. That was in like 33 games.
The question where he's concerned is competition. Houma Christian is small, small, small school ball.
We'll have to watch how he does at Danville. He went 0-for-4 with a couple of strikeouts tonight in the first game.

He's got some pop. In one of the wooden bat tournaments he went to last summer, he had the farthest hit ball.
I think he's going to move over to 2B, and possibly to the OF next year. Not sure how his arm is but I imagine he'll get a look at 3B as well with Slaughter and Bianco. He started for Danville at SS last night. I'm interested to see if he continues to play there or gets work across the infield for them.

Anyone know anything about the Junior College pitcher we signed?
Will he escape the Draft Net? Will he play ball somewhere this summer?

Aaron George's team is still competing the NJCAA division 1 World Series. He was a high school teammate of Jake Slaughter. He's on the draft radar, but I don't think he's a risk to skip LSU. Last summer he pitched in the Northwoods league. I haven't seen his name on any rosters there for this summer, but he may still go there once his JUCO season is over.

I won't be doing any organized thing, but I will be posting anything I find in this thread. The 2nd and 3rd days of the draft are some of my favorite days of the year. I like to see where the LSU players and commits go, I like to see who the Cardinals draft, and now this year I'll be following the Tennessee recruiting class pretty closely since my cousin is good friends with their HC.

I hate trying to predict rounds anymore because guys like Tyler Moore sneak into the 6th round just because he's a high signable guy.
Turang, Cabell, Garza, and Willis are the position players to watch.
Marceaux, Hill, Kelly, Henry, Costello, and Gunter are the pitchers to watch.

sounds like a big time class
thanks for the input. would hate to see landon go from an early enrollee to not even making it to campus

Project, what do you know about a kid named Farmer Abendroth? I think he's a junior. Plays at IMG originally from Ms.
A guy I work with claims he's the real deal and is committed to LSU.
This guy also generally has no fricking clue what he's talking about.
He supposedly played for Ben McDonald's travel ball team.
You know anything about him?
