Bryan is no relation to Joe. Great kid, and probably the best defensive SS in high school baseball right now. Very athletic kid with lots of range. LSU got a good one!

Baseball America released their Mock Draft 2.0 today. LINK
ALex Lange comes in at 17. JUCO signee Nate Pearson is on the list at number 20 to the Cubs.
This coincides with a recent D1Baseball prospect report that mentions interest in Pearson between picks 20 and 30. I don't think we're going to be able to pull him to campus.

I'm not sure what to think with Jacob Pearson, basically everyone around him is saying he's 50/50. If he doesn't go pro he would obviously be the jewel of the class.

If he's 50/50 the money is going to win

Pearson finished the regular season hitting .500 with a .596 OBP, 11 HRs, 14 doubles, and 17 Stolen Bases. He hit another monster shot last night to win the game.

2nd pitch of the game, Pearson hit his 12th HR of the year. Followed that up with a stand up triple.

He's unreal. I really hope we can hold onto him. I'm interested to see where he ranks when BA, MLB, and other publications start putting out their more detailed and longer draft lists.
ETA: D1Baseball updated their HS Top 100 list today: LINK ($)
Enlow came in lower than I would have expected at 27. Cabrera (38), Pearson (39), and Storz (46) are the other LSU representatives on the list.
Southern Cal had the most on the list with 8, Vandy and Florida International both had 7 on the list.

There is a whole list of every guy we have committed in the first post in the thread. There are several pitchers.

I'm currently hunting down stats for the commitments. Here's some that jumped out at me:
Sophomore Loyola (Shreveport) Catcher Hayden Travinski drew 45 walks in 120 plate appearances. If all you factored into his OBP were walks, he'd still have a respectable .380 OBP.
Jacob Pearson had a BABIP of .514. At the very highest levels, BABIP is an indicator of luck. At the lower levels of the minor leagues and below, it can serve as an indicator of quality contact. His actual batting average is .535, but BABIP only counts balls put in play, so Home Runs are excluded.
Pearson's ISO Power is a ridiculous .558 because 52% of his hits went for extra bases. Hell, 23% of his plate appearances were extra base hits.
2017 RHP commit Matt Schroer has had a helluva year at the plate as well. He's slashed .449/.553/.899 and hit 9 home runs. At the MLB PDP event he attended, he was evaluated as both a hitter and a pitcher. We don't really have a history of two way players under Mainieri though, so I expect that he will just be on the mound for us. I have not pulled his pitching stats yet.

And to think they could all be on the same team. Not gonna happen, but would be possible.

Thanks for the update. McCabe was previously ranked by them pretty high among high school prospects. He only threw one HS inning this year though, so he's fallen out of a lot of lists. It makes it tough to project whether or not he'll make it to campus.
I did see that he's scheduled to pitch in the South Florida Collegiate League this summer. Hopefully that means he's on track to make it to campus and wanted to get some game innings in before the fall.
It could mean that he's trying to get a few appearances in before the draft though. That leagues season begins about 10 or so days before the draft.
ETA: Andrew Bechtold is also ranked in the BA200 at 120. He is scheduled to play in the Northwoods league this summer.

Looks like we have a good shot at Storz, unless he just wants the money.

Pearson hit another one tonight.

Lsu picked up a 2019 commit today, but I don't have the capability of updating the thread until Monday night ot tuesday.
ETA: The new commit is 2019 OF Wes Toups of ED White in Thibodaux.

Lsu just picked up another 2017 commit in Denham springs Catcher Braden Doughty. Older brother of 2019 commit cade doughty. I'll update more later.
He's righthanded hitter. He can play other positions than just behind the plate. His commitment puts us at 45/35 for the 2018 season, still kind of low for this time of year. I wouldn't be surprised if there are other late additions.
