That brings back some good memories. Brady Steam Roller!
I would love to see the offspring of former athletes come to LSU.

Are you referring to the "Brady Steamroller" that now has been demoted to the press area ? I can tell you one thing. He's better off the court broadcasting than he was with a piece of chalk in his hand while on the court . It's why he is where he is now.

On Seniot night in 2000 I entered the PMAC in the SW portal as the seniors were being introduced and there was a mountain of a man audibly sobbing as he was about to walk out onto the floor of the Assembly Center for the last time. Jabari later made the comment he was so emotional because Brady and Butch had not give up on him when others did and gave him a chance to live his dream. If he can convey that emotion for LSU to his son Wade will do the rest. Of course kids make their own decisions for their reasons but it would be great to have this legacy in purple aqnd gold.

Brady is totally bought into Wade. If he offers any assistance at all, Smith’s kid is ours.

A few updates:

Rodney Howard is down to Georgia and Georgia Tech

Nevada transfer Jordan Brown will likely sign with Kentucky, but will have to sit out a year.

Dearon Tucker picked up an offer from Penn State. Already had offers from Baylor and Wake Forest.

No updates on John Ojiako or Eric Hamilton.

There are no big name JUCO or grad transfers remaining. It appears all of the eggs are in the N’Faly Dante basket. Two big variables are: will he reclass and which school will he choose.

I still expect LSU to sign a couple players, but will likely be a low level juco or grad transfer for depth, then wait out the Dante situation. Could sign a transfer to sit out as well.

Thanks for the update!

Dante would be awesome, but still a long way to go it seems.

If not Dante, I wouldn’t mind Hamilton for a year.

The media’s smear campaign cost us a player or two, unfortunately. If Dante reclassifies, we are gonna blow out some assholes this year. If not, we’ll still be a solid team capable of winning a couple in the ncaa tournament.

Either way, next years class is gonna be a great one. Great to have Coach Wade back!

I was really hoping we could add some depth to the back court. Wade will have to go back to his VCU style next year. It will be a fun team to watch.

I agree. May have to adjust style of play a bit. LSU may have pressed more this past year with more guard depth.

I don't see an issue with guard depth. We only lose one guard that really played this year (Waters) and gain three: Bishop, Manning and Hyatt.

I agree that you can't have too many guards, but they basically ran off Edwards when he could've provided depth for a year.

They probably could've convinced Kingsby to stay if they wanted him.

Seems like they are happy with the guard depth. If a guard is signed for next year, I would expect it to be a transfer that sits out or a freshman player that could redshirt, like Hyatt.

The latest on N'Faly Dante

quote:

“They’re trying to do it,” Evans told the Herald-Leader about Dante’s family pursuing reclassification. “I think it’s going to be more about getting the academics in line and getting the test score in line, rather than, ‘Is it time to go?’ Because, it’s time to go. What he’s doing now from an offensive perspective, it’s all there. And he’s already a dominant defender, as we know. If he can get the grades, it’s going to be done, I think.”

quote:

Evans believes that the Kentucky Wildcats, Kansas Jayhawks, LSU Tigers, Michigan State Spartans, and Oregon Ducks are potential suitors for Dante in 2019. He has also been hearing that LSU and Oregon may currently be in the lead.

This is a weird situation, and I'm not saying LSU has Dante locked up by any means.

But LSU has seemingly taken virtually no interest in any of the junior college, transfer or grad transfer players so far. ZERO. LSU has not even been mentioned as a potential spot for anyone except Eric Hamilton, but even that has not had any additional info come out.

So my take on this is:

A. Wade feels comfortable with his team and is happy to go into next year as-is, while waiting for a potential last-minute player to pop up on the grad transfer market. IMO, the odds of a solid player coming available this late are slim.

OR

B. He has an ace in the hole that he is waiting for. Could Dante be that ace, or perhaps a grad transfer he is waiting on to declare?

Man, I really hope it's B but if so, why not simply grab an extra big for depth? Watford and Dante could both be gone by the 20-21 season.

I swore i heard on 104.5 that Dante came out and said he would not be classifying. But now i can't find any information that says that.
