Could be the first FB/BB player since Ronald Martin did it briefly.
This never seems to work out as t is hard to get into basketball flow after football ends in Janaury.
Seldom happens anywhere. Charlie wArd at Florida state seems to be the last one to have a major impact.
We have been through Marcus Spears, Michael Clayton, Robert Royal, Todd Kinchen, Ben McDonald, Corey Webster, and none have made meaningful contributions and few lasted the whole season. This thought seems to tittilate our fans every few years but doubtful it will work out.

I saw he was doing well at Texas Southern. He and Jalyn Patterson have to be what 35 years old by now lol; man it seems like they been playing college ball the last decade.

We could definitely had used Spears, Clayton, and Webster.

Take note Combs transferred to Texas Southern and is a pretty good player this year averaging 12/7 at 55% from the floor.
he was so bad in his limited time here

The difference here would be that Cook was on the basketball radar before he was on the football radar.

He was basically not cleared by the staff because of ankle problem. Whatever happened, he's looking good now.

Combs had a surgical procedure to repair an old ankle injury before last season. The medical staff didn't think his ankle would hold up without it and were worried about permanent impairment. He did not have enough recovery time to play last year as was hoped.
He had some promise to help last year's LSU team from his play at Noth Texas before he was injured. It would seem that with the additional healing time his game is returning. I have not watched any Texas Southern games this year, but have only read that he and Patterson are making good contributions to their team. Happy for both of them.

elleshoe please let us know how Spears, Clayton, and Webster wouldn't have helped the basketball team.
Those guys were tremendous athletes.

Patterson is shooting the ball horribly. He's taking 16-17 shots and making 4-5-6 shots a game.

Seems like LSU really needs to sign a big in 2019. Any good prospects other than Trendon Watford (who has us in his top 4, but supposedly leaning to Memphis)?

Yes, they actually need another big on the team now. Depending on Days’ injury, they may have to pull the redshirt off Cooper.
Any heard how Cooper has looked in practice? He’s supposed to be the shot-blocker replacement for Bigby-Williams next year. I’ve seen him on the sidelines and he doesn’t look that big.

FWIW, on 247 the last two crystal ball projections 12/31 and 2/6 have him to LSU. He hasn’t had a Memphis or Bama projection since like August.
He and Quinones, with the returning players and possibly Sy puts us in tourney discussion again. Maybe not as good as this year but a possible shot at getting to the second weekend

Seems like it shouldn’t be hard to get a couple quality bigs to come here. The door will be open for significant playing time and a starting role immediately.
