Does LSU ever greyshirt recruits? It seems like we always have a number crunch and Alabama never does. Granted they have more depth, but you can’t tell me that we play everybody sitting on our bench every year. For example, it seems like we always have 4 or 5 tight end type athletes and they never sniff the field.

I will only mention the recruitment and story of Jarez Parks in 2017. High 4-star, offered by every top program nationally, from FL...took a grey shirt at Bama at an already loaded position.

Nobody can see that happen and not at least think, if only for a second, that something shady is going on. Every time crap like that happens, and nothing is made of it, Bama can just keep getting dirtier and dirtier.

if he took a grey shirt in 2017 he would count against the 2018 class. Grey shirts still get counted. Instead of enrolling in August, they just delay enrollment until the following January and count in that years class.

But he has to sit out a year, correct?

yes, He wouldn't even be enrolled in the school until the following year (January). For example, a 2019 high school graduate who is going to take a grey shirt would sit out of school until January 2020 and be part of the 2020 recruiting class and be an early enrollee for the 2020 class because he started school in January.

For example again.
A 2019 high school graduate who is not a grey shirt and signs with the 2019 recruiting class starts school in either January 2019 (early enrollee) or August 2019 and is part of the 2019 football team for the 2019 season.

While a grey shirt graduating in the same class will delay enrollment and start school in 2020 and be part of the 2020 class.

a grey shirt is still counted, but just in the following years class. So 1 grey shirt equals one less signing the following year. It is just more or less telling a kid we dont' have room in this class but will take you in the next class.

That's enough for me, Willie...the kid was very highly rated and was recruited by everyone in the country...and one of the main stated goals by recruits is to get paid in the NFL ASAP.

I just don't buy it. It stinks.

These days, given the transfer trend, you should be signing 2 QBs per class

I disagree. I say sign one and try to bring in a transfer if needed. Then you know what you’re getting

It would be great to get those defensive guys but the offensive line is of greater importance and Darnell Wright(OT, no.5 on ESPN top 300 list) is still available and they should do everything in their powers to get him.

Agreed, pay the man...at least get him in for a visit and show him why he should here over lame Tennessee.

Wish we would've made a serious run at Charles Cross, too.

We're losing guys we should legitimately have a chance at to schools like TN and MS State...others, too.

Exactly and it’s not like they can’t take one look at our depth chart and see no really high ranked OT at all on our roster you would think it would be a no brainer can play immediately SEC LSU play Bama every year compete with the big boys in the bear conferences idk

I will be very interested in seeing how Bama makes the numbers work this year. I just don't see how they can sign anywhere near as many as they seem to be lining up right now without some serious rules bending.

Yeah, how the hell do we miss on all of them?

We must develop Deculus into a solid tackle...he's the last highly-ranked OT we landed. Problem is, he might be better suited for guard.

Wanya Morris was the one I really wanted this cycle.

That little midget will oversign, then process folks and convince others to grayshirt just to keep them from other schools.

This is ridiculous. Saban doesn’t care who LSU signs. He beat us 29-0 this year. Eight games in a row, and we haven’t had a competitive one in years.

Saban convinces guys to greyshirt so he’ll have more guys. That’s it. It’s perfectly honorable and very wise.

I don't think it's ridiculous...I think Saban is absolutely considering his main competition's roster when deciding whether to take players or not. Saban is considering everything, man. Like you just said, he is wise.

I don't think he's honorable at all, though, and it is easier to appear to have wisdom when you're skirting rules left and right without being held accountable.

They should at least be met with a billboard or two every time they bend or break a rule.

We should have at least 25-30 billboards up right now.

Kinda sounds like Edwin Edwards... Except it's our politics instead of football.

I liked the D White billboards and the calling out of Birmingham corruption in general but they probably cost us the A&M game.

Refs had some otherwise unexplained grudge and incentive to keep pulling calls and non-calls out of their arse just to prolong the game every time we won it. That seems the most plausible explanation for that scandal, as best I can tell anyway.

That's the thing, though...we need to have billboards up right now about the refs purposely costing us the A&M game due to them being upset about our Devin White billboard. Just put the whole story on there.

We should change our name to the LSU Billboards.

Downvoted myself

So this Jarez Parks guy from FLA paid $47,000 to attend University at Tuscaloosa for a year instead of taking a full scholarship elsewhere? Wonder where he found $47,000 to pay for his first year? Something really stinks about that incident and the NCAA doesn't appear to care...

Out of State Resident Sticker Price $46,744
Tuition $28,100
Books and Supplies $1,200
Other Fees $0
Room and Board $13,324
Other Expenses Budget $4,120
