I got news, it already exists.

is LSU hesitating, or on it?

Time to see what Weston Davis, Coen Echols, Ory Williams and Ethan Calloway have. One of these hot shots should be ready to step up a a OT spot opposite Tyree Adams. If one is not ready by now, it means one of 2 things. Either Brad Davis has not developed them or he can’t evaluate talent.
And I’m adding Bo Bordelon to this list now. That’s 5 highly regarded recruits and we still have to go to the portal to find a RT! Ridiculous!

There is a difference between paying players market/fairly who remain in the program and continue to develop as opposed to multiple transfer players going to the highest bidder.

This mentality is why lsu was 9-4 lol

I get it, but that’s wishful thinking IMO. It’s the Wild West now, and players are increasingly going to seek out the high bidder. Few are going to be loyal enough to simply accept “fair” offers to stay with a program. They’ll sign with School A. A 3-Star kid has a 4.5-star freshman season. He’s in the portal. If School B offers bigger bucks, good bye School A. LSU isn’t going to be able to institute a policy outside of that framework and survive. It would be nice, but the goose is cooked.
I’m agreeing with you in terms of what I’d want to see be a successful practice, but the courts have ruled in favor of the student athlete every time. And the NCAA, P5 conferences and institutions have reacted at a snail’s pace in setting up some sort of “system” that sets reasonable standards. It’s one year contracts and unrestricted free agency for every player for at least the near future.
That being said, LSU should absolutely throw its hat in the ring for any top OT, regardless of class.

This is bad logic. If anything, a 2026/27 recruit would feel there is a chance at playing time because you will lose the merc after one year. Plus, if the merc is drafted, they could see the same path.

These guys are young. One year from a star player in the portal won't hurt the young guys from growing and learning. Plus, you need backups.

LSU would be his 4th school. But I guess we only need him for 1 year.

Is he not draft eligible? Seems with that kind of grade he would be draft bound.

If we are going to put one foot in the water, might as well pull both.
