He's a junior too. I would take him on LSU any of the past 5 years, but not so much now that we are recruiting really well.

quote:

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound junior guard led the Cougars to a 34-4 record and the Class 4A state championship this past season. Touchet averaged 20.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game, shooting 57 percent from the field, 41 percent from 3-point range and 83 percent from the free throw line. In four Class 4A state tournament games, Touchet averaged 23.8 points. He amassed 15 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals in the 46-40 title-clinching victory against Istrouma, capturing Class 4A state tournament Most Valuable Player honors.

Also a track standout, Touchet has maintained a 4.00 GPA in the classroom and represents one of the state’s top academic candidates in meeting the Gatorade Award’s broad criteria. A member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, he has volunteered on behalf of Habitat for Humanity, The Extra Mile’s adopt-a-family initiative and Miles Perret Cancer Services’ Games of Acadiana.

Is his last name pronounced like touché? If so that's an awesome name.

A 6'2 guard who shoots like that? Sign me up, we need SG after Stringer leaves, this guy is much taller too.

There is not one aspect of his game that jumps out at you, he just plays very fundamental and smart. His ball handling can improve a little, but he can definitely play major college basketball.

Oh you mean a damn good, fundamentally sound whitey?

YES PLEASE.

Sounds like he has leadership skills and and smooth stroke at 6'2". I just came around and decided we should offer this kid.

You need a couple 4 year leadership guys to offset the ballas like Martin that stay only a couple of years.

41% from 3 and 83% from the stripe is damn good at any level. At 6'2" and with his character, I say make a spot for him.

I'm not against offering fundamental whiteys. But I don't know enough about our '14 board yet to know if an offer here is warranted.

I know we've offered a guard from Helen Cox. I don't know if there are other in-state guards we're looking at though. Though, in state or out of state doesn't matter as much in basketball.

I'm in the same boat. But I've never met any black Touchets.

hell, just bring him in as a FT specialist. like a deep snapper or something. God knows we could use some help from the stripe.
