I think it’s more for Emery than it is for Goodwin. Goodwin could also get hurt so there would be zero reason for Goodwin to leave because he will get lots of playing time this year.

Why not both? I’m not counting on Goodwin or Emery because they’ve never been consistently available at any point in their careers. So 2 to replace 2.

With the transfer portal and immediate eligibility, you can no longer be concerned about hurting a player's feelings by bringing in another player at his position.
If he wants to walk, you replace him. Heck, he could decide to leave just because his girlfriend breaks up with him or he prefers a school with colder weather. You can't be concerned about someone leaving.
