Thanks for posting this stat. College Park is an ugly college town (though they are making it better - over $500MM in development right now). It's best amenity is it's proximity to DC and Baltimore. The crime here is considerably low.
As for Scott. I recommend UMD, Harvard and LSU to him in that order. UMD has national exposure and immediate playing time. Harvard has the education and notoriety. LSU has the chance to win championships.
Going to Tulane or UMD for academics over LSU is not a good decision for for Scott imo. Harvard maybe, but being the backup at LSU is worth more than the limited academic prestige that Tulane and UMD have over LSU. That said, being the starting QB for 1 year at LSU is worth more than a Harvard degree imo.
The reason he should go to UMD is for immediate playing time and immediate national exposure. That's what it's about. I do not think there is any guarantee or enough confidence that he will be the starter at LSU any year.

It's really weird to see a bunch of people that don't know the kid saying he should go to this school or that school based on what kind of education he'll get. Basically trying to be dispassionate people giving objective advice.
I don't know the kid, so as a regular person, I really don't care where he goes to school.
BUT, I'm an LSU fan, and as an LSU fan I want him to be at LSU regardless of what the academics at the other schools are. And there is nothing wrong with that.
Some of you people need to stop posing and realize that it's okay to say "frick Maryland" he needs to be at LSU. We're fans, we aren't his parents.

When he walks into to tiger stadium on a Saturday night with that uniform on he will know he made the right decision.
Education there vs education here. Whatever. Somethings in life just can't be quantified.

being the starting qb at LSU for one year is worth more than a Harvard degree?
