Doubt it. He was the number one weakness in our D this year. Lateral movement is very poor.

You are correct. He was our second leading tackler last year, and first this year. Along with several sacks and tbtl, some big hits, and a game-changing interception against a&m. He's been a huge contributor on defense and we're lucky to have him. Kelly raves about him. And he's started 2 his true sophomore and junior years. If he gets just a little better his senior year, he may be an all sec type player. Soft? What a joke.

I’d argue Speights was a much bigger problem than Penn. Penn was much more effective with Weeks on the field

Penn isn’t soft, but he also isn’t a sideline to sideline LB. He has a role but hope we see other guys as well inside next season that can run (I don’t think you wanna count on true freshmen)

Just tried to watch Atkins in the championship game, but it was still the pregame. They said Summer Creek had a really good defense, but it was heavily reliant on Atkins. Remove him, and they wouldn’t be anything special.

For the record, when you were bitching about Damone Clark I was posting that he was an NFL starter.
When I saw Debo Jones play a single game in his senior high school year I called him as an NFL player.
I don’t see NFL superstar in Penn, but I think he makes an NFL roster and earns a pension.

Penn is average at best.
Perkins was not used correctly for his strengths.
Weeks brothers couldn't get on the field bc our staff thought #0 was better. #0 had me screaming for a DJ welter return

Remember our top linebackers in the league right now weren’t 5 stars. Mid range 4 star Devine White not even listed as a linebacker. and Patrick Queen 3 star also not even listed as a linebacker.

I’m thinking long and hard but can’t think of a moment Maason Smith was at linebacker this season .

This is all true of Speights, not Penn. Penn at least looked like he wanted to be out there. I thought Penn was pretty serviceable down the stretch. Speights on the other hand....
