Legitimate Question for Experts

Did LSU push 2011 commitments to announce in order to soften the blow of a 2010 recruiting class that appears to be declining in quality crossing the finish line in February? The 2010 class is really starting to smell like a turd all together. Particularly on the line of scrimmage.

There does not seem to be a real blockbuster interior linemen in the class on either side of the ball.

Because they aren't going after that position this year due to the ridiculous amount of talent there next year.

With all due respect, that does not seem to make much sense. As a matter of fact, it seems like players would want to sign with a team with less people signing at the same positions.

I think its a combination of those players finally seeing some openings on the depth chart -the past couple of years you had to wait your turn. Now, there's room on both lines, RB, WR, and LB. Immediate playing time, Frank Wilson (knowing he's on staff makes their decision easier because they trust him). I think collectively they will all benefit by staying in state, their families can come see them play more, they want to be part of a special class.
It's been a couple of years with the # of linemen of this caliber which bodes well for LSU future. Everything they need is right here, facilities, academic center, program on tv every week, thrill of Tiger Stadium, and being second guessed on the Rant for four years.

We've had 2 decommitments this year, and we have some every year. I don't know why people are acting like this year is out of the ordinary.

That may be true, but we had players RS so esentially brockers, davenport, and montgomery will be part of this class since they will get PT next year. The "blockbusters" you're looking for have committed for 2011 so I think we're ok.

There appears to be alot of talented skill position players, but this class is really lacking in the trenches.

No, they didn't, and they probbly dont give a sh*t what rivals, scout, or the fans think about our recruiting.
Oh yeh, and the 2010 recruiting class is firmly set up for a top ten finish.

It doesn't make sense that LSU's coaches aren't going after interior lineman in 2010 because the 2011 class is loaded with interior lineman?
