Stats are misleading with DTs. A DT might only have a handful of tackles but the havoc and disruption he causes is the real telling point.

I said this the other day. Defensive stats, in general, are very misleading. With that being said, you certainly want to see stats like sacks and turnovers, but the context of everything is still important. That’s why it’s better to go off something like a PFF grade rather than just looking at tackle numbers.

So essentially we made the right choice not overspending on guys to have little to no impact

No, our guys are arse. PFF has Nolan as the #6 interior lineman in the nation and Barrow as the #39 interior lineman. Our guys are in the 100s.

Only if we use that money towards something that will inevitably benefit us.

Fingers crossed it didn't go to keeping Sage and Burns.

Add our DEs. They’ve been creating havoc back there. Our DL isn’t the issue at all. It’s the LBs and DBs creating the problems. They have to teach these guys better football. We have the guys to get this done, they just have to play the right way. Tackling is a huge issue. Tackle the man in front of you and stop trying to hit them at stupid angles with your arm or shoulder. That doesn’t work. Stop putting your hands up unless you look back for the ball. They need to drill these things non stop. Stop allowing your defense to flow in one direction. Stay put and react to your job. Fill your gaps. It’s pretty simple. Just have to drill this shite down to them over and over.

Idk about the other guys but LT Overton has been a menace for Alabama. Watch the games. He doesn't have ton of sacks but he was constantly in the backfield vs Wisconsin

Were we even in the race for overton or nolan? Thought nolan was a do not contact tag and everyone knew he was going to ole miss as soon as he entered.

You can't grade d tackles off of player tackles.

Each player is in a different scheme and asked to do different things.

To me barrow was the miss. We were never going to pay for a guy like Nolan.

Barrow didn't cost as much and is just as good.

I mean stats don't tell the whole story, but we only have one DT with more than 4 total tackles...
