and gatordmb89, not picking on you at all! Thank you for coming here. Seems this was a case of both schools being highly confident, and one of the 2 was going to get a little shock because of that.

What you're probably seeing is an outcome of that shock. Can't say it hasn't happened to the LSU faithful before (Landon Collins comes to mind), and it'll happen again...

...just not with LF!!

a legitimate reason we should be happy about CLM and the continuity of staff. And a reason I won't be one to complain about the staff pay. Seems worth it to me.

Thats one thing people dont understand. We had 8 commits when Saban left. That 05 class was a direct result of 2008. continuity on the staff can go along way, especially when you continue to win 10 games. LSU wont recruit itself without a coach, it never has before.

could possibly be related to Joker Phillips feeling out other offers this postseason. who knows. I agree that it seems like LSU and Jamal are hitting it off. Lord knows we need some righteous safety help. btw, I did not think Jalen Mills did a terrible job in a strong safety sort of role towards the end there when RR took over at CB. He crashed the edge hard a time or two on running plays. Would love to get Adams/Paris/Voorhies coming in to do damage alongside Tre White and RR. And Mills and Jefferson and the others rotating in at times or playing in the dime. sweeeet.....

What is Jamal's composite ranking?

He's ranked 27th in the country in the composite.

He's the #3 Safety prospect in the composite, behind Quin Blanding and John Smith.

after Hootie lost his Bama bump, yes. (warranted or not)

I still resist comparing the two. Slightly different styles, slightly different builds. Different utilization/position in most schemes (maybe not in a Chavis D though).

I will say especially as of late or last couple of games, Adams brings the wood more than Hootie. But Hootie may have been nursing an injury, not sure.

What are the odds we get Hootie and turn him into a OLB?!

Adams has always been ahead of Hootie in the composite rankings

agreed. This is not news, it's just that the Florida guys are now realizing its reality. this has been a done deal for a couple of weeks. but I find it interesting how many Tiger fans praise the Florida fan who comes to the board with it two weeks after the fact. yet refuse to believe the LSU fans that said it days and days ago.

To be completely honest, If the staff has better options, I don't blame them for not taking Hootie. You are building for needs, not a recruiting title.

the only thing about not taking hootie that bothers me is the appearance it gives to Northeast Louisiana recruiting. I feel that there is an opportunity to mend a fence there, but without taking him, the fence will not be mended. if he was a bad player, I can understand it better. but even though he is not as good as Adams, is not a bad player by any stretch of the imagination.

I am not trying to cause problems, so I don't understand why you are being butthurt over the situation.

All I can do is say what the UF staff has heard, and until this morning, they thought he was coming. Which is why I came to the LSURB to say what I did. Very nice pickup for you guys.

Neither side will come out and say that LSU didn't want him (If that's the case).

The only mending of North La that needs to be done is to keep our best recruiters up there just as much as south LA

Well, the UF guy brought welcome confirmation "from the other side", he just didn't realize that's what he was bringing.

I guess what I'm saying is that he's bringing what we can assume is unbiased/non-sunshine pumper/non-negatiger information because it is not in his or his schools best interest.

And I thanked him for it. And there were only a handful of people arguing with you about Adams the other day, I was not one of them. Normally the people who would argue such a thing are the one's that have to be spoon fed information (e.g. takes the crystal ball predictions at face value without question).

You were not out of line...

I usually hate the opposing fans posting here, but if they come here level headed and just want to talk unbiased recruiting I have no problem with them...

If he had put on a different color hat he would be an LSU commitment right now. Can you blame the staff for filling his spot with another(higher rated) player? What are they supposed to do, start making calls to tell other kids they no longer have a committable offer because Hootie changed his mind?

I would like to have Hootie in this class, but I would not want it if the staff had to rescind an offer to a high rated kid that wants to go to LSU but just hasn't committed publicly. Btw, that's about all we have left is high rated kids. Don't have enough spots for everyone that wants to come. It's just how it is in the recruiting world. He had his chance to secure his spot. Maybe he gets back in maybe he doesn't. But he did have the opportunity and chose the bad guys.

I'm a N La guy. I hate what I'm seeing in regards to the perception of LSU and with recruiting up there.

But I think it's time for a new tack; the old "fence" theory isn't valid in all cases now. And I think LSU has taken that tack now that it has the ability to do so being a national brand.

It's worth noting that of the guys in Orlando from N La (OJ Smith, CRob, Hootie, B Harris) only one is a LSU commit. Other than CRob, those other players "holes" have been filled. We're good on TE and of course with Paris/Adams/Voorhies/Battle probably good on S now.

Money is limited, coaching staff is limited, contact days are limited, number of contacts is limited... it's all limited. Invest those resources wisely. I think that's the tack LSU is taking and knowing CLM's history of a "CEO type coach" supports that.

And Fishead, I got hammered, hard, for saying a while back there are Saban Fans that still claim LSU as their school, and there are fans of LSU the school. Unfortunately N La seems to have way too many Saban-LSU fans. Turns out Hootie was a Saban fan. We all catch hell for saying things people don't want to hear. Water off a duck's back.

I also get the impression that Hootie is not going to LSU & I would not be surprised if he signs with Ole Miss now.

But it is great that Adams is on board. I hope Joker Phillips will wind up at on the coaching staff of a solid program.
