But for his dad pushing for him to play and start last year, the redshirt never would have been burned. Also, probably cost us a win in the game he started.

So is this a Nuss thread or the DB thread.

He's an elite S but he's extremely injury prone. Definitely worth the risk but they might want to look at the Syracuse S in the portal who might actually be better because he's less risk and still a very high end player.

He plays out of place because he has no position and he's small. I'm surprised he didn't transfer. He was overrated coming out of HS and many detailed that during his recruitment. It shows on the field.

Brad Davis said in an interview he made that decision for Garrett and kept him out of the game so he wouldn’t have to make that hard decision.

Coaches say those kinds of things to protect kids from getting criticized. Huge grain of salt.

Exactly, because internet rumors are so much more reliable than actual words out of a coach's mouth.

You missed the spirit of my post. I’d like for Sage Ryan to play like a 5* anything.

Give me just on instance of vitriol, friend. Daniels cannot play QB at a high level. Four years as a starter has shown that conclusively. But maybe another dozen starts will allow him to put it together.

So helping lead us to 9 wins (most likely 10) in the SEC in his first year isn’t playing at some sort of a “high” level?

Who hurt you?

We don’t beat Alabama without Jayden Daniels at QB.

Agree. And this may seem to be a bit technical, but Nuss has not proved he can play at and sustain high level performance. At best he has had very good plays during a half against UGA, which was playing with a three TD cushion.

Nuss passing on that bowl opportunity put a bad taste in my mouth too.

Me as well.

It was actually a bad decision for his future, not even counting the selfishness aspect.

He could’ve played great and showed out for Kelly. Perhaps LSU doesn’t even pursue a QB in the portal.

Regardless, and I said this at the time, there is no way to predict the future. Having a redshirt in your pocket is valuable. In fact, he could’ve redshirted this year. He’s over the limit now, but just by one game. He could’ve planned that.

Sucks that every topic seems to turn into a Nuss-fest.

Let the players compete and the chips fall where they may. If someone cashes out and goes to another table, is what it is

If someone transfers out, let it be Nuss.

I recall watching an interview with Brad Davis when he was serving as Interim HC preparing for the bowl game. He was asked about Nuss and the bowl game starting QB situation. He was emphatic that Nuss wanted to play but HE made the decision to not let him play in order to preserve his redshirt. That might have been coach speak just to protect Nuss from the easily anticipated criticism for not playing but he was adamant the decision was his/coaches; not Nuss’.

It’s in the history books now but just something to consider when it comes to forming an opinion of Nuss based on bowl “opt out”.

His teammates and coaches didn’t care that he didn’t play. That’s all that matters. Not a few idiot fans who are too short sighted to see past the bridge of their nose.
