One company is doing this? Nah, that's where the depth of Texas, a&m, uga, ufs alumni bases come in. And no, every kid doesn't get 500k, but 5* 30 minutes from your rivals does. Albert Means got paid $200k 30 years ago. Stop being stupid.

Can the ncaa step in and put a cap $ per school or will that only push school to leave the ncaa faster?

Absolutely no evidence to base it on. Just intuition.
Just seems like a BAMA guy.

The NCAA is done. They will end up being a special events planner putting on championships like the basketball tournament. The conferences have all the power now and will have to control it, but if you're a&m, uga, florida, Bama...and Texas, why the hell would you?

A&M is the problem here, not Bama
Still confusing that kids would actually like A&M and that weird arse shite.

This is now strictly a business and in business, money talks and everything else walks. Players that were die hard fans of home state schools will forego those allegiance when it comes down to getting paid.
It's going to be funny when these kids don't live up to their NIL expectations and the $$ dries up over their College Career.
you know it's gonna happen and create "bad blood"

Really easy to spend other people's money and beat your chest when LSU is successful.
This isn’t the Poli board. All the “magic” (buyouts magically being paid, big-name guys randomly flipping to us, improvements to facilities, etc.) happen through private individuals wealthy enough to spend money like that. If they want LSU to remain competitive, they need to pony up.

Prob one of those SEC teams with the ugly helmets. Not one highly rated La kid is ever safe anymore.

Okay, quick note on what I know. Totally blindsided of course optics look bad BUT , the initial word is EVERYONE TAKE A CHILL PILL. Mathews is really tight with a kid from Beaumont , Tx. name will be familiar, Bryce Anderson as we know also a LSU decommit. They really close, played secondary together on 7 vs 7 team. And parents are close two. There was a “very emotional” call to LSU prior to his decomittment, I am NOT privy to exact conversation. But did get cliff notes. This was done as a family decision. Nil is not, and I repeat Not the cause. For obvious reasons I can’t reveal motivation directly by Mathews family. But what I can generally say is all recruits are allowed 5 all paid for official visits. Now when families attend these visits the actual treatment of recruits and families vary drastically dependent on if said recruit is already committed elsewhere or open thus getting Red Carpet treatment- Especially 5-Star talent. Bottom line, can we loose him Absolutely. But the chances of him Re-Committing are extremely good to the team that he has made clear his heart is !!! Look I was literally nauseous, this isn’t kidding I occasionally suffer panick attacks, initial news brought on one. All I can say is feeling much better after literally talking to 3 people and couple E-mails. If I get get news that I can share, I will.

Jacoby Matthews has decommitted.
No one said anything about a public corporation. You're full on potato making up fictitious scenarios and arguments to argue them. There's nothing stopping a privately owned business from signing you, me or jacoby Matthews to an endorsement deal if they want to.
I never said the could not, but if they sign a deal, it better specify terms and these kids better get a 1099 and file taxes or the tax man is going to have lots. Forget public companies, which this is not going to happen. S Corporation, Sole Proprietor or Small business.
So lets take an S Corporation, would you agree the average sales for an S Corp is in the area of $1.5 Million to $2 Million.
If so, using your example, that S Corporation owner (who is an alum and booster of some big-time SEC program) writes a check for $500,000 to hang a poster.
Do you think the IRS would allow that S-Corporation (Booster) to deduct that as an expense to lower his taxable income? Yes or No
My bet is no. So lets say $2 million of sales. He just pissed away $500,000 and rather than pay taxes on $1.5 million, he is going to pay taxes on $2 million (lets assume no other tax deductible expenses). And rather than go through when marginal tax rates change, I am just gong to keep it simple. Lets just use a 15% tax rate.
15% of $2 million is $300,000
15% of $1.5 million is $225,000
So that $500,000 hypothetical payment to a recruit for hanging a poster is going to cost that Booster another $75,0000 to the IRS.
So again, how many idiot boosters does Texas A&M have to do that for all current 85 scholarship players on the roster now and the 25 they plan to sign this December.
You have a number that you can estimate.
Isn't it more economically rationale and more compliant with IRS tax laws (which are going to play a big role here) to sign a contract with a company to let them run their advertisements for their products on your Social Media accounts (with thousands, hundred of thousands, millions of followers) or sign a deal with a local car dealership that advertises on local TV market (can reach a Million potential TV viewers) and set a compensation rate that pays the athlete and the business can use to promote their product and not have IRS issues.

I don’t think they have to go on what people tell them. Another school can legally have a booster offer and sign a contract with the player.

Thanks Iota. It’s really mind-boggling how much stuff is going on these days. I’m all for kids enjoying the process...just wish if they want to enjoy it, they’d hold off on committing. Now LSU has to re-recruit him when resources could have gone towards others prospects.

No, that’s not it.
I think it’s his dangling earrings look that gives off that Deion Sanders show-me-the-money vibe.
Got to get his shine on kind of look.
That screams BAMA more than any other school.
But to be fair Jarvis Landry has that look and he’s not about that.

Your post is contradictory, and no offense, but if you’re having health problems over this, then you need to seek real medical help. Seriously.
Posted on 7/30/21 at 2:43 pm to Ripley
At first I thought he wanted to take visits but it seems he’s looking forward to play against LSU.
Posted on 7/30/21 at 2:48 pm to IotaTiger
IotaTiger, so is Bryce Anderson a bigger player than Mason Smith regarding Jacoby recruitment?
