my amateur opinion is that if he's committing this early, it's not LSU.

Oh shite. I sure as hell hope its us but the only intel I've heard about Matthews throughout his entire recruitment was "once he gets the clemson offer, it's a wrap". Well, he got that offer a couple weeks ago.
Hopefully he's gonna keep the in-state momentum rolling...

Not necessarily saying you're wrong, but can you explain your logic a bit? I'd think that an early, impromptu announcement would bode well for the hometown school, given that the prospect would have a higher level of comfort with that school's staff/facilities/etc.

There has only been smoke for other teams with him so far. I don't keep up with football recruiting as much anymore though, so I could have missed something.

I just can't see it being LSU at this moment, hope i'm wrong tho, every cycle there is 2-3 La. kids that just don't wanna come to LSU, for whatever reason, no clue!!
