If Emery Jones returns I dont think we do. IF he doesnt yes we absolutely do.

We gotta find a couple interior guys though, highest priority right now.

I have heard that Jones may want to return and play guard because that is where he projects at the next level. If so, then maybe tackles are what we need.

Bro Jones isn’t starting at left tackle if he comes back. Tyree Adams is one of your tackles, go get another tackle, and put jones at guard where he’s going to play professionally

This. If the staff believes in Davis, then him and Jones make a pretty good pair. You also have Adams who can slide inside as well but be a capable backup there if needed, and Key, who could be good enough to push as a true freshman.

We need IOL a lot more than Tackles if Jones stays.

If Jones comes back, he is going to start wherever he wants to. The staff is going to bend some to get him to stay because of how much we need him for some stability, especially if Chester gets pushed to the bench.

If Jones wants to stay at Tackle, then he will. Kids don’t always want to do what may be in their best interest. Maybe he will, but we’ll see how it plays out.

Who is Key to which you refer as a possible true freshman starter? Solomon Thomas?

Biggest problem I have with all this is recruiting guys back due to experience and promising them certain starting spots when it may help the team more if they played somewhere else. Jones for example, he has a lot of experience but may serve us better by moving to guard. If the team would be better with that move then in the re-recruiting process you explain the plan and how it benefits both them and the team and raise their NIL package. If they jump to NFL or portal due to that then so be it. Coaches make big bucks for a reason and should be putting kids in the best spot and promising portal guys an opportunity to start. If they come here and don’t perform then they need to sit for someone else. Don’t let the players run the show of where they will and will not play. If they are good enough at a certain position and it’s best for the team you shouldn’t have to even have a discussion because they will be playing there anyway.

If he wants to come here you don’t turn him away, but we need interior guys badly and a right tackle.

Jones isn’t coming back to play guard. That never happens. It’s extremely common players from college who play Tackle are drafted to play guard. It’s not that hard of a transition for that change. If he comes back he’ll play tackle again. I honestly can’t think of a single player who came back to change from tackle To guard to help transition to the nfl.

I also find that strange. He would just stay at tackle and try to get drafted higher than move to guard in the nfl if need be.

The poster made it sound like a fact. I don't know where he got that info.

This is true. It really doesn't matter if he decides to play tackle for another year. The league will move him to guard if they think he'll contribute there no matter where he played on the line in college. It's a much easier transition than forcing a natural guard to tackle and rarely happens.

It's such a weird rumor for people to hang their hat on. NFL moves tackles to guard all the time. I'd like to see if a 3 year starter at tackle had ever went back his senior year to move to guard. And I mean draftable guys, not career college guys. I mean it could happen but it's very odd and rare.

I heard it on one of the radio broadcasts, I think it was Hunt Palmer's show.

What? I said this

How many more qualifiers do I need? It's not a fact, it's what I heard and what that would mean if it were to happen. I thought that was clear from the fact that I actually said that.
