His loyalty appears to be to Saban. As others have said, perhaps he gets a flush Christmas card from the REC.

I'm in agreement with that entire post. I thought you were saying Marcus is shady.

There it is.... you're saying his loyalty is with Saban. I'm saying back that up or be seen as a fool.

I don't have first hand experience with Marcus. I have heard numerous discussions over the last few years that MR is tied to Saban. Could I be wrong? Sure. But generally when there is smoke..... Perhaps you can back up your claims.

I also said "appears" and "perhaps". This is a message board.

Sad but true. I still down-voted.

Your memory of the events of 04 are extremely foggy.

Saban did everything imaginable to push JR ahead of him even though JR was clearly not ready.

Who started on Senior Night? Hell, he once benched him for Rick fricking Clausen back in 2002.

Yeah, Marcus owes Saban so much

I meant to type mediocracy

Miles refused to change his philosophy as the game evolved right before his eyes. Lately we have seen too many players that have flourished in the NFL, but had very lackluster careers at LSU.

Lsu fans need to understand that north Baton Rouge is southern jag country and they don't care about lsu the way that we do.

This may have been true 15 years ago.] It's much more different now. I mostly see SU gear from the older crowd, and there appears to be less of that now.

When stump Mitchell was the southern coach they started losing bad and a lot in north Baton Rouge became more lsu fans and you would stop seeing southern flags and apparel.

When the program got stale under Pete, that was when you started seeing less of it. Stump simply ensuring things even further.

Call me dumbass all you want...don't care. I'm glad I started this thread. I read too many post in other threads that effectively charging MR of steering Allen to Saban insinuating MR had greater allegiance to Saban over the institution that is LSU. Those claims made/make sense. I like reading the different opinions on this subject.

Furthermore, because of this thread understanding the dynamic of North Baton Rouge LSU fandom is an eye opener to me and I spent 5 years of my life on LSU campus and been a Tiger fan my entire life. I have never recognized the fickle nature of North Baton Rouge LSU fans until this thread.

I won't call you a dumbass, but I'll point out your prejudice.....

One kid from SOUTHERN lab goes to bama, you pounce on the coach....

Who's questioning UNIVERSITY lab who has sent multiple elite players to bama?

The truth is not the extreme end of the spectrum on either side, it's a balance in the middle.

The job of a coach is to win games and get kids to college. Seems like BOTH lab schools are successful in this.

Is this because one player decided to go to Bama? Or is there real evidence that Randall has some kind of problem with LSU?

Is it really that outrageous that a player may still have a good relationship with his former coach? It's not Randall's job to ensure LSU gets every good prospect from SL.

I know it may be hard for LSU fans to accept, but right now kids from every part of the U.S. (yes, including Baton Rouge) want to go to Bama because of their now long-standing success under Saban. Too much logic in this post for our idiot fan base to handle. We can't beat Alabama on the field to directly thwart their success, so we're relegated to shitting on anyone that won't help us in our conquest to unseat Alabama.

LINK
I attached the link since yall like to question everything. Marcus was hired in March '15, hasn't even been there 2 years yet! One other D1 guy worth mentioning besides Allen in the that time was their QB from last year. He went to UNC because he wasn't even offered by LSU. So you got 1 guy go to Bama amidst an enormous coaching change/re-alignment at LSU and you're ready to write Marcus Randall, a former LSU and NFL QB, off? Tell me, what have you done with your life?!?!

Of course I'm prejudice. I'm an LSU fan born and raised and multiple alumni generations on both sides of the family. My allegiance is to LSU. I am prejudice toward LSU.

If I were a high school coach I would do every thing I could to steer the players LSU wanted on my team to LSU. There would have to be some extraordinary mitigating circumstances to do otherwise.

That's fine but here's a dose of reality. Lsu doesn't own these kids. They don't have to go to lsu because they are from Louisiana.

if you care about these kids more than lsu, you mentor them and guide them through the process and help them find a good fit. If you worship the university, that's idolatry.

I'll get off my soapbox but I think you're wrong have a nice day.

The fact there are supposed LSU fans defending kids from our state that chose bama over LSU is mind boggling to me. I guess these are the same fans with the script A's on the back of their cars. I get angry just thinking about that slithery slimy snake saban setting foot near our state. If I ever do see him here I will not hesitate to yell at him very angrily to get the frick out.

There is absolutely zero benefit of anyone from alabama being anywhere near any of our high schools, they should be treated like the vermits they are.

I get it. However it doesn't mean we can't question why.

I agree. That's the right thing to do.

Good thing I don't. I just want LSU to win on Saturdays and I realize Ws on Saturdays begins with finding better talent than your opponents on the recruiting trail months and years before the game is even played. Given it's proximity Southern Lab should be a pipeline to LSU. If Southern Lab is not a pipeline I don't blame Southern Lab, I blame LSU. My frustration lies with LSU and the team that is LSU. Part of that team includes its alumni.

His former coach told this story to the Gridiron Club back when MR was the starting QB. It was in response to a question about why R.D was not starting. "I have one QB, a senior, who works his arse off, studies film, stays home at nite, is respected by his teammates for his work ethic. Yet when it comes time to run out the tunnel on game day, he literally pisses his pants he is so nervous. The other QB has all the talent in the world, yet is lazy, never watches film, parties hard several nites a week & ignores practice. Players know what is going on. Which QB should I start?". A pretty strong back handed compliment to MR but Nicky did play MR over RD, so I can see the love he has for Nicky
