After watching the UA game, I can say that Sopsher is not a 5 star. IDK if he gained a lot of weight since his last HS game, but he is slow. He has no technique, nothing stood out to me regarding his play. I've seen film of him with less weight and he moved very well for a player his size, but he must keep the weight down.

For me I think there are too many questions regarding this guy. It's a problem because he is rated so high. I mean, if LSU loses him then all these fans that only see he is a 5 star will bash Orgeron and staff. But, at the price Sopsher is asking, I just don't see the rewards down the road. If he cannot learn and develop technique he will be a waste of 2 scholarships. He was constantly getting blocked from the play, didn't rush the QB well (though he was getting double teamed on several plays) and he just didn't move well at all. Most fans on this site want everything sugar coated. But reality is what the rest of us deal with. He got exposed and unless he can learn technique he will be a flop.

If Johnson was a four star instead of a five star LSU fans would say he had a solid career.

No, but I've watched quite a bit of video and one on ones... Looks like an animal to me...

I completely agree. I don't claim to be an expert and I have never seen him live, but early footage of him at the camps were beastly.

He is the only guy that Kardell didn't consistently dominate. He used his hands properly and seemed country strong.

Well that settles it then. YO! Nick, Ed, Jimbo, Tom, Dabo, Gus, Dan and whoever else got caught sleeping here lets pack it up. This dude on an LSU interweb chat room says Ish no bueno so let's call off the dogs. Thank god man, these programs owe you a tremendous gratitude Tiger eyes. One nearly slipped by. You are a credit to the world of CFB and to planet earth and from all of us who Think we know squat about football, we thank you.

I have no idea whether Sospher is lazy and over rated or if he is the best defensive tackle in high school this year.

Neither do 95% of those saying they do in this thread.

Hope he signs with bama. He is a waste of a scholarship, not to mention two. He will not amount to anything.

what we should be scared of, is Bama just develops players better than we do. they'll have better coaching and motivation, and more big games in which to play. better players will push him on the depth chart.

if LSU is just out and out trying to give him what he wants in regard to his brother, and he doesn't have to earn it, we'll all notice eventually.

So, if everyone is seeing slow, fat and bad technique...why has he not moved down a star and slipped the #1 spot?
Can the experts not see what you see? Kids slip all the time, why not him. Maybe there is a reason.

Talent means little without effort, motivation, desire and dedication.

Other than public perception about winning a recruiting battle, I doubt he's worth two scholarships in the long term if the Tigers can pull another 4 star DL into the class.

Regardless of how good he is, he should commit to LSU today if he is serious about the deal he has put forward. If not, then the staff should stop wasting time with him.

Ego, freak, hunter, and woods fell short not because of talent. Their nfl careers clearly prove that. It was the fact that they were coached by one of the worst dline coaches in decades in Brick Haley.

My goodness this is wrong on so many levels. O has been consider one of, if not, the best d-line coach in America. He’s developed a number of hall of famers. Kortez Kennedy, warren sapp, Russell Maryland. A ton of all American’s and 1st round draft choices.

This kid will not get better coaching or development at either school. They both develop pro lineman.

Or Al Woods.

I was thinking the same thing. 5* coming out of Elton, but never lived up to it at LSU. He's still sticking in the NFL so he figured it out eventually, but...I think we need Sopsher just to win a recruiting battle with Bama to be honest.

In 2016 Arden Key made it as a defensive end. In 2017 he made it as a linebacker.

Before that, you have to go all the way back to when Anthony Johnson made second team in 2013. 2012 was the last year we had a dominant defensive line. That was well before Orgeron was hired.

Hell if I know. I'm sure he's had flashes, this year, but I just don't see him as an immediate impact player like a 5 star represents.

There are alot of people who are critical of what they saw out of him on the field this year. That's pretty rare when it comes to 5-star in-state guys we have a great shot of getting.

To say he has a motivation issue and can be exposed when it's not clicking is an understatement. I get the potential he has, and I know he's had great camps, but there are clear flags that should be concerning too.

Woods was a nose tackle and we ran a 4-3 defense. There was no way he was going to live up to expectations, he was a square peg we were trying to jam in a round hole. Its why he is fine in the NFL after so many years and was never really a big star at LSU.

My problem with Sopsher is his asking price. I absolutely want ish in this class. Its just When you look at his question marks and then add we have to burn a scholly on his brother to MAYBE get ish........I get concerned with how this will play out.
