I don’t know for a fact but they don’t have a spot to throw away and Dumervil isn’t some all world recruit, so I highly doubt it.

What!?!? He’s dominated at camps and is as strong as an ox. He’s one of the best OT’s we’ve had a real shot at in a LOOOOOOONG time.

What?! Lol you can't be serious. He is one of the best OTs in the country and has dominated the camps. Even got the best of the #1 overall player multiple times. Huge recruit.

That’s not true at all. If dumervil is out and Crawford doesn’t make it because because of grades we aren’t telling Martinez to kick rocks. Martinez is in.

A few of the teams that gave firm offers to Martinez:
- Auburn
- Florida
- Georgia
- Ohio State
- Penn State

Does dumervil have the grades? I thought the interests from LSU sorta cooled specifically cause of his grades. But I really do not know just what I heard.

true. Maybe a tiny smidgen of hyperbole with the 'long', but otherwise you are correct.

To the OP's Question:
No, Dumervil isn't dependent on Martinez. Dumervil has very high sights here. It can't hurt, but IF we were to send Martinez looking elsewhere it probably wouldn't affect Dumervil assuming we did it in the right way.

Having said that, I want Martinez in this class. I see potential there. It will be a couple years development away, but that is how you get 4th yr. Sr starters with 1.5 years experience. When the super duper 5* no-brainers (like Dumervil) are so hard to find, a OT like Martinez is what OLs are built of.

That's Crawford (Carthage, TX). Dumervil is fully qualified academically.

I think he's the best OT prospect in the country.

He is the best OT prospect we've had a chance at since La'el Collins.

I actually think he might be underrated in his ranking considering how well he's dominated at camps.

I disagree. He's exactly what LSU needs and hasn't had in a long time.

HUDL

Alpha Dog

quote:

FRISCO, Texas — 2020 Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas offensive tackle Marcus Dumervil hit The Opening Finals to show his stuff and did just that, earning Alpha Dog honors on the offensive linemen from 247Sports. National recruiting analyst Brandon Huffman broke down his strong day on Monday at The Star in 247Sports' recap of the offensive linemen from the day. Check out clips of his day above.

quote:

"Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas offensive lineman Marcus Dumervil was dominant in the 1-on-1’s, going 6-0 in the reps we charted," Huffman wrote. "He took the first reps of the day at left tackle and easily swept Princely Umanmielen then moved inside and did the same with Jacolbe Cowan. The 6-5, 300-pounder looked light on his feet, was technically sound and could handle both speed rushes and power easily. LSU, Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida and Louisville are among the schools on the short list for Dumervil."

quote:

Dumervil holds offers from 46 teams, according to 247Sports. Florida and LSU are considered the two of the favorites for Dumervil, but the senior offensive lineman said he is more focused on the playoffs right now.

This is part is true.

Marlon Martinez has an offer regardless of Dumervil.

This is flat wrong.

Absolutely not. Martinez stages on his own merit. He’s a very solid interior OL who looks like his best football is in front of him. His ranking doesn’t do him justice. I think O sees Martinez as the future starting center in about 2 years much like Cushenberry. He will need time to learn and grow like Lloyd did but he will be ready to go when it’s his time. Imagine an OL in 2 years of
LT: Rosenthal
LG: Kardell Thomas
C: Martinez/Hines
RG: Bradford
RT: Dumervil

Thomas and Bradford have the chances to be the meanest pair of run blocking guards LSU has seen in years. If Max Johnson is the starter in 2021 then that makes RT more of a priority than LT so you’d want whoever is better out of Dumervil and Rosenthal on the right side.

No doubt Dumervil is underrated at his current ranking.
