Is it not weird that we still have subpar recruiting with all the chaos around us?

aggie doesn't even have a coach and is a shite show of a program.
Florida continues to trend down, down, down.
Auburn is a joke.
We're on the verge of having back to back 10 win seasons and a possible Heisman, yet still having trouble keeping up with schools who are doing nothing but underperforming.
It's just odd that we've got proof of concept that our staff can win games consistently and develop players, yet kids are still more eager to head down to places like Gainesville for a team that isn't bowl eligible.
What gives? Just feels like with all the ineptness around us, we should be cleaning up on the recruiting front.

On one side of the ball and recruiting is fine there. The defensive side is a complete disaster and the recruiting is following suit.

Bad DC, bad assistants on that side of the ball. CJ Jackson is the only OOS Defensive recruit inside the top 300 that we have committed. That’s pretty awful

I’d list the issues in no particular order as:
NIL
This defensive staff in general
Not having a DL coach recruiting parts of the season
Some kids will still just want to go out of state

Yo like I told another idiot here a couple of days ago. There is something called national signing day and it aint here yet. There is this new thing called the portal maybe you have heard of it. You see that's not here yet either. Recruiting is far from over.
All this means you don't know what the hell you are talking about. Bad DC? No bad uneducated "fans" like you.

Recruiting well on offense but not defense doesn’t point to NIL being the problem. It points to the trash and incompetent defensive coaches we have. Also not having a consistent DL coach definitely hurts

We’ll likely have to patch holes on defense through the portal this class. Our first priority needs to be hiring a great staff on defense for next year and recruiting should follow. FWIW, our safety and LB groups in the current class are fine. Corner is a question and DL is well below standard.

Not weird at all. We are lucky to even have the defensive recruits we have now. Any recruit knows that whoever is recruiting them at the moment on D likely won't be there next year. Too easy to recruit against LSU on that side of the ball. Kids like winning but they also know LSU may not of been bowl eligible if they didn't have Jaden Daniels. Acceptance is your friend

The portal plugs holes it doesn't build a championship program.
Yes, I know....JB and JD. Those guys are the exception not the rule. Speights and Harris are the norm.

The SEC recruiting game is a sleazy sketchy cutthroat business. As bad as Florida, Auburn, atm, are, Their Coaches have played the game for years in the South. If you add NIL, it’s almost worse because there are so many loopholes to make sht look legal.
CBK came here to recruit these players, he thought if he could come here and just sign them up. Well it worked on his stronger side (OL & TE)
but it’s not going to work on skilled positions and D. Freeman was hired at ND and they thought they could recruit better, win bigger, and he’s virtually the same Coach, better defensively not as good offensively.
CBK has got to turn into Nick Nolte Bluechips but it’s legal now. He has to get down in the gutter but still maintain his Process. He’s got to hire minions that recruit relentlessly, he’s got to let the shady characters work behind the scenes and get some dawgs. He’s got to let the Dawgs be Dawgs but know how to treat them accordingly. I believe winning the West was the worst thing to happen year One, he had to say in private this isn’t that hard but now he should know better now. He’s smart but all Coaches have huge Egos and don’t want to change. Saban the goat had to change offensively and did, look what happened. CBK better put his pride aside, thicken his skin and start to recruit like a SEC program or regardless of his brilliance, organization, and alignment he won’t be here eight more years. He’s the Right guy but he’s got to adjust quickly, he bought himself some stock year 1 , but he’s at LSU, Errybody prior to him reached the promise land and the last 2 weren’t of his coaching ilk but nonetheless they have Nattys.
