Why not let Coach Raymond worry about his salary. Maybe he is happy with it.

I think Surtain Jr’s decision will tell us all we need to know if Raymond is happy or not.

Remember, O’s mentor was never a fan of Raymond for DB coach. Is O?

Sure.

The staff members:

Steve Ensminger - inherited, but promotion followed with at least (and this is a conservative) a $300K boost in salary.
Tommie Robinson - plucked from USC upon O’s hiring with a boost in pay of $150K from previous employer.
Mickey Joseph - hired by O
Jeff Grimes - left, with his replacement handpicked by O (James Cregg).
Meatball - promoted during O’s interim and given a full-time job once O was named head coach.
Dave Aranda - retained by O, salary boosted by $700K to keep him.
Greg McMahon - hired by O to be a part of shadow staff before being named full-time SC.

That leaves Corey Raymond. No promotion. No significant raise (a $25K escalator in his contract), and now talk of some his coaching responsibilities being taken away.

These are the facts.

Part of that is on Raymond. He's seen first hand how it works. Interview for another job, or threaten to, and the money will roll in. Either his fault or he needs a new agent. We are suckers for interview threats

EDIT: Nevermind you're meaning by hiring a safeties coach. Got it.

you know, that is a valid point. It is a business.

I'm sure he wouldn't have to fight hard and I hope he's at least being vetted for a future DC or co-DC position. LSU should make sure he knows that as their reach-out.

If O is trying to run Raymond out of town he needs to seriously frick off and do LSU fans a favor and run his own arse out of town.

Agree.

Is he the highest paid DB coach in CFB? If not, why not?

No need for "closing" Surtain is coming, it is Alabama trying to make up ground, guarantee you that they did not. Raymond and the rest of the staff have been too invested the entire time with him. He wants to play for DBU.

Lol people get so butt hurt if you recognize the fact that there is quite a big gap between Bama and LSU right now and it's not getting any narrower. Saban has built a machine in all facets of the program and until LSU gets serious the machine will continue to dominate us.

Right. Its not like we don’t believe we will bounce back soon. We are lacking identity atm but we will bounce back. Landing Surtain will be a big victory and a battle we must win. I am however a realist and can clearly see the gap.

I like Raymond and think he is a closer. Put me down for getting Surtain. I remember Tony Brown though.....Guy that was committed to us, his sister was coming here, from the beaumont area (Close to LSU). Loved LSU until the very end and then Bam Bam Bama! That was disgusting! Enough to keep me cautiously optimistic

Lol And who would do the DB coaching, Orgeron?? Lol And who's this mentor of Orgeron?? can't be anybody but Jenkins, right?? Why would Jenkins have a problem with Raymond's coaching ability all of a sudden?? He's not even there anymore, anyways!

I mean can you go into more detail and explain these accusations?? Raymond is a valuable DB coach that coaches really well according to DB's that have played for him, and is an invaluable recruiter that is second to none. Orgeron would really have to be stupid to mess with him.

Maybe we should all check and see if there's some Kiffinized USC DB retread sitting around. Might appeal to O.
