There seems to be an impressive amount of pass catchers in the state next year. Yalls thoughts on takes and no takes

Ronald Lewis - West Jeff
John Diarse - Neville
Donald Gage - Redemptorist
Deondre Skinner - Patterson
Ricky Jefferson - Destrehan
Desean Smith - Barbe
Standish Dobbard - Edna Karr

Again yall opinions on who we take and who we don't? Any others in the state that could be considered LSU caliber? Who will be recruited as a WR and who will be considered a TE? How many of each position do yall see LSU using scholarships on ?

IMO Ronald Lewis is a must. This kid is a stud and the Tigers need to go after him. I'm also a big fan of Diarse and Dobbard. But I can see all these guys being SEC quality. Thoughts?

Would Rickey be willing to play DB?

The state of Florida will be loaded with Top WR's next year as well. It wouldn't surprise me to see LSU try to sneak in a nab one. Ahmad Fulwood and Stacey Coley are both potential 5* WR's out of Florida and there's a plethora of 4* studs. There's going to be quite a few WR's from Florida in the top 100 next year IMO, as there will be RB's. The state is absolutely loaded at the RB/WR positions.

I can promise you that Cooper/Chief, Saban/Smart, and Muschamp will all be making it clear to him that his upside is higher on defensive side.

How about a one-for-one trade? UF gets one of the small speedy ones for LA and LSU gets a bigger taller receiver from FL.

I'm not willing to give up Fulwood, but you guys can dip into the state for a taller one from Florida. I don't want any small WR's at UF anymore. I'm over them, now that Meyer is gone.

Will there ever be anything close to the Jarvis Landry, Odell Beckham Jr. and D'haquille Williams trio? You could probably add Sylve to that list too although I always considered him an Athlete.

Yeah I can see Gator fans getting tired of seeing WR's such as Percy Harvin, Brandon James, Andre Caldwell, and Ike Hilliard(Spurrier era).

It's not like UF didn't have big boys on roster to play receiver. It's just that the smaller guys outplayed the bigger ones and that is including the smaller TE's such as Ingram and Hernandez over their bigger counterparts.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of these kids on this list. it's a good problem to have.. "talented pass catchers"

From his video, I don't believe Lewis is a must. I'm not against taking him, but we have several 6'0 receivers just like him.

Smith is a must. Big time pass catching TE. Barbe is only throwing the ball around 10 times a game this year so his stats will be way down, but he is a still a weapon and developing his run blocking skills this year since they run more now.

D'haquille Williams

Really intrigued with this guy. Just feels like a Dez Bryant kind of prospect.

Question: If DhW completes his fall & spring sememters at Houston's Southest Prep, (& meets his academic obligations), can he sign an LOI with LSU in Feb, and compete for playing time next fall...with 4 to play 4?

Question #2: Who was the kid that got screwed out of almost two years of HS credits because his either his high school was unaccredited his Frosh/So. years (or something like that where he basically got no credit despite going to school)? Was that DhW? If so, does he need more than one year of prep?

I believe it's yes to both of those questions.

Follow-up to you (or anybody that might know):

1.So he could need more than one year in prep?

2.If so, we are really looking at the 2013 class, right? 4 to play 4 .....or 3 to play 3?

3. Were his grades good during the years he did credit?

FWIW, I was trying to read about Southeast Prep and their website says they recommend players take classes at one of the local community colleges in order to meet NCAA Clearing House requirements.

1. Are most prep schools like this? Southeast Prep apparently is just a place to give althletes an "opportunity to showcase their skills athletically on the football field at a collegiete level" but the academics are done elsewhere at a CC, although the prep school does monitor their academic goals & help with tutoring/study halls.

2.If so, why go to a "athletic" prep school & not an "academic" prep school? Seems like a distraction away from academics. Sure, a kid may be less rusty by playing this fall, but when you have possibly two years of credits to make up, seems I'd tackle the academics, and shakle off the gridiron rust when I got to LSU.

all of these guys are takes with the possible exception of skinner and gage. I would like to see all "athletes" such as jefferson and diarse on the defensive side of the ball. give chavis and cooper all the talent they need to keep the defense no. 1. then we could take lewis, smith ect., and dhaquille williams as wr/te.
