If he does not stay in the draft he is a Tiger.

Not if Duke really wants him. They’ll pay whatever is needed to land players.

He's from Ponchatoula and his brother (Marshall) played for Wade at LSU. That doesn't mean he would come to LSU for free (or anything close to that). But LSU has other aspects in its favor besides just money.

That all sounds great, but if Duke outbids us (which they do for someone they want), I doubt Graves is taking a hometown discount. Particularly with Duke’s tradition of having players selected in the first round and their brand.

He's a possible 1st round pick now despite starting 4 games for Santa Clara. Point being, if you can play the NBA doesn't really care what school you went to. Yes, if Duke were willing to pay him $5M and LSU only $500k, then I'm sure he would go to Duke. But if the money is relatively close (even if Duke offers more) and he doesn't choose to enter the draft he will come to LSU. While not nearly as much in previous years, relationships and playing at home still matters

We've beaten Duke for players before. Livingston was the #1 player in the nation and picked us over Duke. Hell, 5 years ago Javonte picked us over Kentucky.
LSU has signed plenty of elite players in basketball over the last 50 years. From Dale (who signed 2 #1 overall nationally ranked HS recruits), to Brady, Johnny, and then Wade. Even Trent's lazy, boring arse signed Johnny O'bryant. The only outlier was the epic loser McMahon.
Our problem over the years has been quality coaching. We finally had a good one in Wade, then Woodterd Woodterded.

Projected a late first round pick. Duke also wants him. LSU will need to open the wallet to land Graves.

Question:
Does he want to be a devil in blue, or a tiger in purple/gold?

FWIW Mascona reported yesterday that Duke had made an offer to Graves and it was substantial but that LSU will match it if needed. I think he will come here for less money. Not a lot but less. Family and girlfriend and substantial pay day will get it done if he doesn't go pro.

Gf will be the deciding factor I feel. Another Naz Reid situation.

I'm sure he's willing to come back home. He watched his brother play for Wade.
