Marlon Taylor is a much better shooter than Edwards I think.

44% from 3 and 80% from the FT line.

Edwards shot 46% from 3 in JUCO and made 76 3s. Most guys shooting numbers take a big drop once they go D1. There’s a lot less room to shoot in the SEC

Fair enough.

Just watching Taylor shoot, I like his stroke more. He's got a crazy vertical and shoots from high up, kind of like Blakeney.

But you're right, we'll see how that translates. I am really high on him.

I am too. Like I said he’s the X factor this year. His biggest impact is going to come from his defense of versatility, rebounding and transition baskets tho, not shooting. Sure he might not down some outside shots but he’s not going to be a 40% 3 point shooter.

People are forgetting that Epps and Reath shot well from 3 last year. They just sucked at everything else. If we get better at shooting 3s it’s because our big men forced teams to focus on the paint more than the perimeter and gave our guards better looks

FWIW the 247 guys said our class would likely move up to #2 with the addition of Hyatt. Not that it matters in the grand scheme. Wade can’t be stopped!

He graduated early and would’ve been ineligible due to age.

Also has an injury and could redshirt this year to rehab,

Reading this people are just saying we're recruiting him, not that we're leading, correct?

Or has there been a report out about us leading?

All faith in Master Wade though.

We just sent a freshman who got playing time last year packing. Hyatt is a done deal.

Is he 18 going on 19, 19 going on 20 or is he already 20? Does anyone know? If he will be 20 this year he could be a 25 y/o rs sr.

For what it is worth, Billy has said a few times over the past week that he is pretty confident in LSU getting him.

There are only 5 CB predictions on 247, with 2 for us, 2 for Rutgers, and one just put in the other day for Seton Hall. However, all the talk since his Rutgers visit at end of June has been that things were trending away from them and more towards LSU. He just finished a visit at Seton Hall (probably the reason for the one CB pick) and now he has cancelled his visit to Pitt leaving only his visit to LSU next weekend, which falls right before he makes his commitment and signs. Have to think that with LSU going last on visits and Wade allowing Rachal to walk that things with Hyatt are just about wrapped up. But of course things could always go sideways for one reason or another.

Yeah, I heard that too. I just shy away from quoting anything by him as a source.

Yea, and I really liked Rachal. He may lack a little on the offensive end, but he was a hard worker and good defender. Hyatt is a good athlete and in some ways similar to Rachal. But Hyatt looks to have a better outside shot and better offensive skills. If there is one thing you can never have enough of, it's players that can fill-it-up from long range.

I agree on all fronts. I think most have the same thoughts. We were all excited to see Rachal’s development and enjoyed his effort and willingness to do the dirty work last year. But most are okay with him leaving due to the fact that it was b/c of his inability to get out of his own way with respect to his behavior off the court. It has even been talked about that Wade gave him every opportunity to work things out and stay with the team; but Rachal couldn’t get right. So Wade did what he had to do and made sure to have another talented player waiting in the wings.
