Along with what others said, I believe the staff is impressed with the development of the freshman DB’s and that weighed into the decision on Burns.

LSU actively got worse in their overall ranking

You actually think this matters to the overall success of the football program? We dropped 4 commits and went from the second ranked class to the fifth ranked class. That's not a very big drop considering the number of players we lost.

We're also highly likely to have to highest ranked class we've ever had. This class should finish strong AND give us some needed flexibility to take a transfer or sign more than 25 guys next year.

But, by all means, keep gnashing your teeth over a borderline 4* nose tackle and a tweener defensive back who the coaches feel would have gotten lost on the depth chart.

They were downgraded yet two top 10 national programs took them within a matter of days.

Different teams, different coaches, different evaluations, different needs.

This is not one-size-fits-all. We have taken players from out of state many times that the local school did not want, and vice versa.

This class is still great but with those two guys it would make me feel better with more hometown boys.

MAKE IT STOP!!! These guys were not as good as the guys we either got in this class or already have.

There is gnashing of teeth over this bc LSU actively got worse in their overall ranking between October and now, in the midst of an amazing season. This is the best year we’ve had since at least 2011 yet we are still looking to fill spots and will either leave open spots or will sign guys who are worse than the players we told to look around.

LSU went national this year and yes, that’s more difficult and comes with some risks. But if you are really complaining about a top 5 class because we dropped two of the lowest guys on the board to swing for the fence, then I don’t know what to tell you.

Will you still be complaining if the last 6 spots go to better players than Lee and Burns and we go back up a few spots?

Do you wish we held on to them because they are from Louisiana or because you think you are a better talent evaluator then the coaches??? It’s the rants assumption we dumped those guys for bigger fish(recruits) when has the coach come out and said that?? Maybe just maybe the in state guys weren’t that good....

Yes they will.

I’m not speaking from a talent evaluator prospective. I will never claim to know which kid will develop more than the next. I’m speaking from fan perspective of having in state kids on the team who dreamed of playing for LSU and want to represent the state and the university.

I trust what the coaches are doing. I’m even cool if we sign 23 and leave two spots open for transfers or to sign more next year. I just like having boys from in state who are typically underrated turn out to be diamonds.

That’s a horrible recipe for success. Sure, the occasional guy will play above his rating, but that can’t be counted on in large numbers.

I always get a kick out of the people who think that the number rating matters, as if humans are made of digits and 247 has the formula to figure it out. These people have as good of clue as anyone who will develop in college. It's a mix of current development and projected development. It's not an exact science.

So from a fan perspective you want LSU to have only players from Louisiana who want to represent the school? Do you know what our team would look like in that scenario?? It’s my opinion on here that most in state guys are over rated on the board... wouldn’t say lee and burns who are 4 stars are under rated...

What about out of state kids who dream of playing in the bayou? Frick them then huh? 1st priority goes to in state?

Yeah but to say a blanket statement like most in state recruits are underrated is asinine...

The issue with keeping Lee and Burns centers around roster management. We don’t need 4 nose tackles and we don’t need to lose another play to the transfer portal
Bc they can’t get on the field in our defensive backfield

Let it go man. They are not in this class and never will be. Recruiting is not an exact science. There is and always will be twist and turns in recruiting but I trust the coaches know a hell of a lot more than anyone on this board
