I've personally seen a coach that did it in high school to keep the players from distractions. He did not send them to camps or do 7 on 7, pretty much nothing to help kids. The only way some 10-15 kids got their letters was when a student office worker stole the letters and questionnaires out of the coach's school mailbox and distributed them out.

Yes it happens a lot i remember when my little brother and cousin was getting recruited the head coach at the time would give us the mail like three weeks late and we ended up missing out on a lot of offers cause they felt we weren't interested.

This. It's funny how there can be such a disconnect between coaches and recruits because there isn't a lot of actual talking going on between the two.

I believe that schools aren't able to contact the kids directly until the fall of their sophomore year. All contact must go through the HC until then. afterwards the kids are able to start receiving mail directly from the schools.

I have only heard of that if a get isn't getting a full ride and they don't qualify academically for the school.

Happened to someone at our high school. Coach held letters during season. Was let go before season ended and the new coach didn't know nothing about letters received. Kid never got letters until it was to late.

Sign your kid up for some type of clearinghouse and enter your personal information on those sites. Never, and I repeat, never expect any coach to do right by your kid.

My brother's HS football coach not only kept letters from my brother, but he actually called schools and told not them not to recruit him because he had a beef with my father.

Thank goodness for my brother that he ended up getting a baseball scholarship.
