Attrition will be a major need.

PP will go pro to add another spot.

Without naming names, where do you predict the attrition comes from? i.e. which class and situation

I would expect attrition to come from the OL with at least one player, but probably two. I would expect one LB, one guy in the secondary, one WR....thats all I would take a guess at for now. That gets us up to 15ish for 2011

I agree with Lynx for the most part.I'm still wondering who the 3-6 we have to lose this year are.Add to that in order to take 20 next year we have to"lose" another 10.I just don't se that many I would want to lose. There are probably about 10 I could name now that wouldn't be huge losses but even though things will change I don't count 15 or more guys i would want to lose. Also with the offers we are giving out this early(15 instate) it seems that the coaches are looing at more than 20.Either that or they don't feel as good about some instate kids as we fans do.
Rb-Hilliard,Hill,Magee
Wr-Landry,Lewis,Sylve
Ol-Collins,Robinson,White
De-Rasco
Dt-Johnson,Thomas
S-Thomas,Fleming
Ath-Beckham
Since we usually land all or most instate guys that's 15 and we still don't have:
Qb
wr-we have offered alot of OOS guys so I hink we arelooking to take at least 1 more
Ol-seems with offers that we want 1 more
De-May not get Rasco but it seems we want at least 2
Dt-no Hunter or Johnson?
LB-haven't offered many but got to take at least 2
Cb-Washington and need at least 2
K-We all know Miles loves K.Plus we lose Jasper
Looks like we want 23-25 at minimum.I say get who you can and make the #s work but it will be interesting.

If Lee doesn't go pro in base ball, we don't have to take a QB.

We don't have to take any LBs as we are going to redshirt them all from 2010. We may take one or none if there is a numbers crunch and LA does not produce a top 25-30 rated LB. That one may come from out of state.

We can skimp at DB this year, only taking two or three.

Our greatest positions of need in order are DT, RB, and OLmen. We already have the RB position sewed up with three commits. I say we take 5 or six OLmen even with a small class.

Nobody knows this yet. When Spring practice starts, pay attention. That's when we'll start finding out.

There are 9 or 10 available today (it is unsure if Dugas has a schollie). We have to lose at least one more from the 2010 class to get to 25. We then have to lose 5-6 more before fall 2010 to get to 85 for next year. Assuming none of the 5-6 are Srs next year and Peterson leaves as expected, that would put us 17 spots.

That would be before the next year of attrition so it isn't quite as horrific as people make it out to be. We will have room for around 20-22 is my guess.

Sonny G,I agree with your take.I was basing my speculation on the offers we have handed out.Of course some aren't coming here but with the amount of offers at certain positions it appears we are planning to take x amount of players at that position or we wouldn't offer. The in state kids are a good measuring stick esp. at wr and db.I'm sure the coaches expect all those kids to be at LSU(just based on the fact that very few in state kids with offers don't commit to LSU).If we were planning on taking just the in state kids at wr I don't think we would have so many offers to OOS kids.At db the Fleming/Thomas(may end up a lb)offers lead me to believe we plan to take at least 3.Jabriel Washington will not get turned down and with the amount of offers out to dbs(esp cb) it seems we want 2.Just my thoughts. All will depend on who commits and who don't.

What about Zach Lee? He will likely redshirt his first year. If he plays a single down and is on scholarship it must a football scholarship, but if he is expected to redshirt or just not see the field for a year or two can he be on a baseball scholarship until he actually sees the football field?

I would say take 2 QBs. Can't have too many.

I don't really like the practice, but I am suprised JL was not forced out. He is not ever going to play again unless something ridiculous happens with injuries.
