For some reason, those who are overly invested in N. LA high school football wont' acknowledge the obvious questions surrounding the "family friend

Jones' recruitment, along with Robinson's, is exactly like Trovon Reed's in that regard. His basketball coach was on Tigerbait the entire time saying Trooper Taylor was doing nothing wrong, just building a better relationship, putting in more time, really cared more for Reed, etc. We all know about what came out with Taylor and Sean Nelson after the fact. The coach was close enough to know things, but far enough away to not have any clue what was really going on.

No different here.

It's basically the most important nugget of info. Did he talk to the staff himself or not. You seem to indicate yes...that's counter to other information.

My guess is that the answer is no, and you simply gloss over that information because it begs a very basic question about Hootie.

Yeah, so I'll take that as a "yes, you're right. I didn't phrase it correctly. They didn't tell him that because he hasn't talked to them after he turned them down."

JJ-My point is when the call was made to the staff, did HOOTIE make the call or did one of his HANDLERS make the call. And if HOOTIE didn't personally make the call, WHY NOT???

JJ27 will not address that question because it makes it puts Hootie in a bad light.

It's much easier to just take shots at the staff and pretend like it is the staff who just decided they didn't want Hootie.

Well, I'm going to thank JJ27 for what info he did bring. And going to make the same assumption too MOT.

Don't think even if we knew for sure who called, and who answered, we could still figure this out.

But... he hasn't recommitted to Bama even after Hampton recommitted to OM, nor has he committed to OM. Does that tell us anything?

An elite college education is not an optimum arrangement for anyone other than the recruit and his family.

Unlike others, I'm not going to pretend like I have any idea what is going on.

What I can tell you without a doubt is that this dead period doesn't mean coaches can't call recruits. So none of the stuff about the agreement means anything.

That is my factual contribution to the thread.

I can believe that Bama treated Hootie and his Mom better than LSU. This how LSU recruits, if you give them your commitment that you want to be a Tiger they take your word for it and welcome you into the family. They expect you to act like family and help out with recruiting. Depending on your recruiter he may or may not call you everyday to check on you, but they do call. It doesn't mean that you aren't priority but they still have other players they are recruiting. It's a very realistic approach to recruiting. If you're not the reigning #1 Player in the Country then once you commit I'm sure at any school in the country the phone calls become less frequent. We all would like to have our egos stroked but let's face it not very realistic.

LSU doesn't need to talk to hootie directly. they can simply have someone, such as a commit, tell hootie to take his time and think things over and make sure of what he wants to do this time and LSU will be in touch LATER.

was just thinking about this as I warmed up a late dinner.

was thinking of Paris specifically and how not waiting to announce (if truly decided) can be both beneficial to the school AND the recruit.

Their is limited contact with the recruits during dead periods. The recruits can call the coaches as much as they want but the coaches can only call the recruits once a week.

Exactly, so all of the BS about LSU not being able to call unless the agreement was signed is....BS.

Y'all quit vilifying the staff. So let's say they didn't call... so what? His mom shouldn't have insulted them publicly. For all we know they DID call and the "family friend" lied and never passed along the message.

If Bama treated Hootie so well, why fifnt he tell them personally he was recommitting?

It seems like the guy has a tough time communicating with anyone .

He's alienating people around him and is turning to quasi agents now. It doesn't look good for the guy right now .

At least Hootie never caused drama on twitter or talked bad about lsu on twitter he actually thanked the lsu fans and coaches after he committed to Bama. Robinson knew where he was going and just played us all along and them says negative stuff on twitter all the time. Hootie was undecided and felt Bama was the right school bur realized immediately it wasn't. Lsu needs to at least contact him and not completely ignore him that will leave a bad impression on him and his camp and could affect some of nla

Let's keep in mind that the kid is only 18yrs old and in the middle of making either the best decision of his life or the worst. Once you sign in Feb there aren't any do overs. Your committed. He should havae take more time rather than cave into the pressure of others.

Perhaps they are preparing on how to further handle his recruiting process before they call back. Perhaps they did call back and the "family friend" is not passing along the messages. It is all speculation at this point. No need to knock the staff right now. If they choose to ignore him the whole time in order to land Adams or a recruit whose "camp" is not dicking them around, then I am all for it.
